May Sweeps are now beginning folks and this is what we have to show for it? As we can see many of the soaps stayed at the same level compared to last week except General Hospital and One Live To Live dropped down in the ratings. But give it up for Bold & The Beautiful for finally moving upwards and becoming unstuck in stagnation! They saw a very nice increase of +197,000 more viewers compared to last week with many fans tuning in for Monday and Tuesday episodes and also saw a +0.2 increase in the all important 18-49 Women demo group.

General Hospital however saw a loss of -132,000 viewers compared to last week. I think what is a bit more shocking is the loss that Days Of Our Lives suffered...they lost -185,000 viewers compared to last week and dropped down to a 1.8 for Friday's episode...so much for can't miss climatic Friday's! I won't even touch All My Children and Guiding Light this time.

Let me just add that I hope the writers for ALL daytime dramas have something wonderful planned for these shows as the ratings have really suffered since the Writer's Strike at the beginning of the year. May Sweeps is probably the biggest promotional period next to November Sweeps. These storylines really must be fantastic in order to keep what little viewers these shows have left but also to propel the show into the long (and sometimes tedious teen-filled) summer soap season. I'm crossing my fingers people for a glorious & soapy Sweeps time!
