As the World Turns: Please Meg...SHOOT!

Someone one please put me out of my misery! It was only a few short weeks ago that I was praising the high heavens for the writing on As the World Turns. Since that time I have been subjected to poison jewelry and Meg seeing the ghost of Sofie. It's a wonder that poor girl can find her way to Meg with that bright, white, garish light shining in her eyes. Alison, Chris, Emily, Casey and Meg have been irratic, irrational, and down right irritating!

I see some storyline progression in this pool of plot drivel, but can someone stop the madness and get back to the soap that had Margo gunning for Emily, Lily gunning for Carly and Susan gunning for Chris? Imagine my confusing feelings for a moment when, in the midst of this hot mess, I see Meg point a gun at Paul. Wow, talk about a freeze frame moment. I could go for this, Paul being shot dead...for real this time. Then again, James is coming back to torment him, so which would be better? A real dilemma for sure.

I know Luke was hoping that Meg would turn the gun on herself, but getting shot two times is a bit much for a soap opera....or is it? Negative you say? Most of the time there are other stories to focus on. Not this time. While the fallout of Holden, Lily, Carly and Jack takes a back seat I have to endure Parker and Liberty's summertime adventures. What a waste of talented adult actors! Here's hoping that the return of Grayson McCouch and Anthony Herrera can spice things up again. Hope, sometimes it's all the soap fan has. It's the biggest thing we hang everything on.

I really wouldn't have a problem with Meg killing Paul and then turning the gun on herself. Why would she have to kill herself first? lol

Luke, I totally agree with u. I hope that Meg would kill Paul and herself and save the viewers the misery of watching this terrible couple on our screen for days when no one cares about them. They suck the life out of the soap for me.

Yeah and GL is heading right back into the toilet too. It took both of them less than two weeks too screw up the first positive buzz either of them has had in ages. It's sad.

Totally random but I stopped watching ATWT last year and one of the things I miss most is RH as Paul. I actually always liked him...

I have to say, I am enjoying all the crazy antics on ATWT. And I like Paul & Meg (although I wish Passanante could find a real story in there for them). There goes my credibility, huh? LOL

I agree Sisko, I'm enjoying it too but I don't know why people keep saying ATWT is being crazy right now. Mike said the same thing to me on IM but as I pointed out this is really not that different than any of the other stories ATWT has told the last four or five summers.

Last summer it was Chleo, the summer before that it was Maddie's pyschopathic sister, somewhere in there Luke was shot by his boyfriends father. I may have the time line wrong but wasn't the previous summer the story about Lucas and is best friend who was homophobic at camp? Didn't Alison and Aaron go on the run during the summer and didn't it carry into the fall? Wasn't the Lily/Emily/Carly spa storyline a summer storyline too?

To me a crazy summer storyline is par for the course at ATWT during the summer.

Apparently, you haven't watched GH in the last 10 years. I think next week Jason catches a bullet with his teeth.

And I miss Scott Holroyd as Paul. I wonder what Noelle Beck would be like if she was playing Rose?

"but getting shot two times is a bit much for a soap opera" .. (that was my attempt at humor)

I really wouldn't have a problem with Meg killing Paul and then turning the gun on herself. Why would she have to kill herself first? ..   (no surprise there)

It hadn't occurred to me that about their past summer storylines. I was just baffled by the really fast switch in gears and its already August. It's like one thing was happening and the next week everything changed. Whatever infection these folks have I wish Dr. Chris would figure it out, and fast. I suppose if it wasn't for this then Paul, Meg, Alison, Chris and Aaron wouldn't have a story at all.

ATWT has been known to switch gears VERY quickly ever since Sheffer was shown the door and Goutman took an more active role in guiding the show. The Killer Lake Killer Stabber Stabber Stab Her storyline kicked into high gear between the 2nd and 4th acts of one episode. LOL

The thing about ATWT's summer kookiness that I enjoy despite the lapses and leaps in logic is that they ratchet up the action and allow our characters (and the actors who play them) to cut loose. Love or hate Paul & Meg, Marie Wilson has been tearing it up as has Kelly Menighan Hensley has been a pleasure to watch as she rockets between slutdom and confusion...now an unusual pendulum swing for Emily, but the speed is entertaining. And Marnie Schulenberg has been outstanding in her drugged out state. As long as a storyline is entertaining to me, I can forgive some lapses in logic.

Most important, the poisoning storyline hasn't detracted much from Henry's Vienna problem, the super messy fallout in the Holden/Lily/Carly imbroglio, and the Liberty/Parker story that has affected their parents (thought I wish Katie was a more of a protagonist in the situation).

I actually don't think it's that bad either....then again I don't have the same problem with Meg and Paul that you guys have.....I find it very entertaining when everyone is freaking out....I don't know why they couldn't have the same thing happen to Meg instead of her being haunted by Sophie....

I just wonder why Sophia has to have that light. Its like they took a 1,000 watt light bulb and put it in her face. Hope she got the light on both sides of her face so she could have an even tan.

Hey guys I started to watch ATWT again because of your podcast.
I agree with the stupid with Sophie, frankly it is boring.

As for the drug story, it is overacted, but I find it funny!

I think the writer does not know what to do with this couple and come up with theses stupid plot points to break them up and make up and I just wish they would just leave them alone or break them up permantely. I do agree that the poison s/l is dumb, but it is ATWT summer style s/l. I hope that it is a good end that will effect the whole canvas.

I also think Marie Wilson is kicking ass. It really shows that if she were allowed to tap Meg's roots, she'd be hell on wheels! Maybe she can pair up with James and bug the hell out of Paul.

I like them both, it is only that they have one stupid story after another. Why not have a story where they work together can show their talent, and solve something!

That I like to see.
