HomeTVAll My ChildrenKnight Rider Returns, Ratings Sputter Luke Kerr September 25, 2008 All My Children, Knight Rider 12 Comments Justin Bruening’s Knight Rider premiered as a TV series last night on NBC and I was wondering if anyone’s impressions may have changed for the good or bad about the show? Personally, I view Knight Rider as another Baywatch or Las Vegas. It isn’t "high concept" TV like LOST, or even this season’s Fringe. It has action like Alias but nowhere near the layers of intrigue. Knight Rider is Cotton Candy TV, enjoyable to watch but not a lot of depth. I’ll be tuning in for a few more episodes but here are a few of my problems with it. Val Kilmer does a terrible KITT voice. Several of the supporting actors can’t act. Most of the supporting characters don’t have any layers or depth. RELATED: In Knight Rider ratings news Live Feed is reporting that "Despite having the highest level of viewer awareness of NBC’s new fall shows, "Rider" (7.3 million viewers, 2.4 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and a 7 share) opened in third place in the 8 p.m." 12 Responses Danielle September 25, 2008 The problem is Knight Rider from when I was a kid was cool and something never done on TV. The problem now is that its corny and does not fit with the times. Why they wanted to remake another one I will never know. Who know’s maybe Justin will come back to AMC is all else fails with KR. I started watching some of it yesterday, but after KITT became a transformer reject and well… transformed, I turned it off. If it doesn’t succeed in prime time maybe they’ll do w/ this show what the did w/ Baywatch and put it in syndication. Log in to Reply Jamey Giddens September 25, 2008 The lead actor can’t act, why should the supporting ones be able to? Log in to Reply Chrystie-Delancey September 25, 2008 I love Val Kilmer and his voice, but I agree, he makes a bad KITT. I reluctantly watched the first half hour as I felt there was nothing else on. Anyway, what I noticed most of all about Val’s voice was that I could not hear it very well (and I have surround sound). Also, I like Justin from AMC and what’s-her-name from her short-lived stint on Y&R (Russo), but I don’t think she offers much nor does Justin. If they want all soap stars, or at least a soap male lead, I suggest replacing Justin with Josh Duhamel (he was excellent on Las Vegas, IMO). I also think the transformations of KITT are a bit overkill. Log in to Reply elvara September 25, 2008 Just cancel the thing!! Log in to Reply AlexB September 25, 2008 I watched he whole thing…and I want my 43 minutes back. It sucked. The writing was terrible and the actors were worse. Well, all except for Bruce Davidson. That guy is always good to me for some reason. It was like they expected Bumblebee’s cousin to save what a wreck the rest of the show was. I don’t see it lasting the rest of the season. If NBC could cancel a good show like The Black Donnelly’s and let this hot mess continue to bore people to tears then I know something. Log in to Reply season1217 September 26, 2008 You know what, I can’t watch Knight Rider because Pushing Daisies comes back next Wednesday @ 8. Sorry, Knight but Daisies is gonna be the final nail in the coffin. _______________________________________ //**It’s the writing, stupid!**\\ Log in to Reply ssjohn September 26, 2008 I haven’t watched the ‘1st’ episode yet, but i had to comment on the ratings, I don’t think you can’t take this weeks ratings into account due to the president’s address, it screwed up the line up in a lot of places and caused some people to miss it. I figure the second episode’s ratings should be better for us to judge it by. Log in to Reply podcastjunkie September 26, 2008 LOL, tell us how you really feel Jamey. I too am a Pushing Daisies fanatic Season so Knight Rider has no shot getting me to watch either. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
