Another same-sex story ditched on Grey's?

A new fixture at Grey’s Anatomy is ex-Alias actress Melissa George. She’s already filmed four episodes, but will her story be nipped in the bud? According to E!Online she was originally pegged to play a bisexual character, but following ABC’s recent firing of Brooke Smith (Erica Hahn), execs are apparently rethinking the character’s path. A mild flirtation with Callie is said to lead nowhere, and plans for a passionate history with Meredith are said to have been scrapped. Maybe they’ll send the character in a different direction, but it doesn’t look promising.

Aside from Alias, George has starred in Home and Away, in which she was part of a hugely popular couple (Angel and Shane). That soap has provided The Young and the Restless with a couple of its current stars. Both Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby) and Tammin Sursok (Colleen Carlton) started out on the Aussie sudser. While Goddard has been embraced by Y&R viewers, Sursok has received a mixed reaction from fans. Daytime Confidential’s own Jamey Giddens recently admitted to having a soft spot for her though. I reiterate DC contributer Mark Bowers’ thoughts on that, Jamey: “what on earth were you smoking?"

I will agree with you on the above statement! ABC executives are cowards huh?

I don't get it. ABC or whoever is pulling the plug on the lesbian story on Grey's Anatomy but are doing nothing about it on All My Children. Seems a bit hypocritical to me. They can't use the primetime timeslot excuse because Soapnet airs AMC at 8 p.m. every week night. What's the difference?

Listen, Grey's needs to clean house and as promising as the Erica/Callie relationship could have been the writers screwed it up. Do they really need to add on, yet, another person when they have doctor's seeing dead fiance's, interns slicing and dicing into themselves, quasi-lesbians getting hands on experience on how to please a woman from a man and then trying to figure out how quasi of a lesbian is she by having quickies w/ said man? Please! Who cares?!

I didn't like the Erica/Callie pairing, there was no chemistry there. But now Callie and the Plastic Surgeon is a different story. They should have played that friendship up instead.

Season, I want to see something engaging and believable happen to Callie, Sloan, Cristina (it looks like Cristina is getting a good romance - yay!).  Izzie can go and frolic in the afterlife with Denny for all I care, just so long as it's offscreen.  I think this new character could get me interested in Meredith again, if Mer isn't written to be the incessant whiner... a blast from her past is a lot more interesting to me than watching her read her mommies diaries.  Most of all I want no more of the foolishness you mentioned.  I think we kind of agree.  :D
