On today's ABC episode of Daytime Confidential Luke, Tina, Belinda (The View from the Recliners Edge) and Regan discuss the latest in ABC soap news including...

All My Children's 10,000th episode. Where has Carmen disappeared to? Adam (David Canary) and Erica's (Susan Lucci) "romance" and is David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry) in character?

Susan Haskell and Trevor St. John's performances on One Life to Live. Should Marty get all of her memory back at once or only a little bit over time? Who would you put Marty with now? Once her memory is entirely back could she be with Todd or someone else? Shouldn't an autopsy prove that its obvious that Bess's (Bree Williamson) baby isn't her own?

Regan shares some of the latest General Hospital spoilers and we discuss the burning of Kelly's. Nikolas (Tyler Christopher), Nadine (Claire Coffee) and Raylene. Scrubs in the mob or Robin (Kimberly McCullough) as the next mob doctor? Jax and Kate sleep together.

Regarding the 10,000 episode. I know you don't agree but I was thrilled to see Erica's part be about her and Jackson (and their family) and it gave this Jerica fan hope that things will turn for us. I don't find Adam and Erica romantic. I find them childish and stupid. I used to look forward to their scenes because they were always funny and fresh. Seeing them everyday now has made it lackluster for me especially when it's the same thing day after day after day. I also feel they are ruining one of the best "frenemie" relationships they have by turning this romantic and I don't like that they are changing history to do it. Erica never loved or wanted Adam in any way, shape, or form and in fact , was in love with other men during both of her marriages to him (the first Mike Roy and the second Jackson) so hopefully this will end soon and they will go back to being the fun adversaries/friends they used to be, and Erica and Jack will be finding the road back (with much better writing than the last two years I hope).

As for David, he has always been pondscum so yes it's in character to use a woman sexually (he has done it before) to get what he wants. I can't stand the guy.

As I listened to the GH portion of the podcast, as I do every week, I start to feel frustrated because it's like we're hitting our head against the wall every week. Maybe it's because those who are disgruntled grumble more than those who are content but a lot of GH fans have been vocal about the show needing to get back to the hospital and be not quite so mob heavy.

As Belinda mentioned, Scrubs is all we get that has a tie with the hospital. When you really look closely, they're the only two doctors left on the show. (Matt, the almost invisible brother, needs a storyline. Monica has made more cameos on Night Shift than on the mothership, Noah is who knows where...) There are more mobsters or people sleeping with the mob than there are health care providers. Ironic when you consider most of the mob end up in the hospital at some point and there's nobody to care for them.

In an earlier podcast somebody mentioned that when they tried to veer away from the mob, the ratings either did nothing or they dropped and this provided fuel for the mob worshippers. But as somebody else pointed out, those who would have responded to non-mob stories have left the show. They're no longer watching. They gave up waiting for the miracle.

It's funny. On YouTube, somebody commented on a negative comment about a recent episode. He or she asked, "Why do you still watch it if you so obviously hate it that much?" I'm sure a lot of old time GH fans ask that same question and answer it the same way -- We watch it in the hopes that things do change. That the show will get better. That they'll return to romance, and character driven storylines and to storylines that make sense. We watch it because we've watched it for 30 years and it's hard to pull plug. But everyone of us who say that also has at the back of our minds, there is a limit to our loyalty. Many have already reached that limit.

Burning down Kellys, a fixture since 1980, was just symbolic of what the writers have been doing for years now. The systematic dismantling of GH's history started with the rewriting of history, the demise of the Quartermaines and other core families and now they're starting with the landmarks. It was bad enough when they torched the only hotel in Port Charles (and hence the only other place to eat in the city -- the Grill) but now ... no more chili at Kellys. The hospital will be next. I'm sure the Russians will find a way to blow it up.... but then again, Super Jason and Super Sonny will save it...thus redeeming their murderous past, at least until the next time they kill somebody in cold blood.

Phew...sorry for the rant.
