ER creator Michael Crichton Dead at 66
By Jamey Giddens on November 05, 2008

In a sad twist of irony, doctor/author/screenwriter/television producer Michael Critchton, who found a large niche penning medical-based thrillers, has died of cancer. He was 66. According to EW.com, Crichton's public relations firm released a statement revealing the prolific writer had succumbed to the disease after "a courageous and private" battle. In addition to penning the blockbuster novel Jurassic Park, which was turned into one of the biggest movies of all time by Steven Spielberg, Crichton created the long-running medical soap opera ER, which made Sherry Stringfield (ex-Blake, Guiding Light) a household name and currently stars daytime alums Angela Bassett (ex-Leonie, Ryan's Hope) and John Stamos (ex-Blackie, General Hospital).

My condolences to his family and friends. I loved Michael Crichton's books. My faves were Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Disclosure, Travels... And ER was a terrific show. The world's lost a great talent

This was sad news, I love ER and it is sad knowing that he will never see the closure to his creation, I do hope the final episode was written and has his input but i guess we will have to wait and find out.
I haven't read any of his books, but i loved Jurassic Park, I wonder what his death means for JP4?.
My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and friends.
