NBC Variety Show, A Rosie O' Flop
By Jamey Giddens on November 29, 2008

Former daytime talker Rosie O'Donnell's new variety show Rosie Live, belly flopped during its NBC premiere on Thanksgiving Eve. The show, which had been heralded as the first of a return to the variety skein format made popular by Ed Sullivan, Sonny and Cher and Carol Burnett, tied with the recently canceled ABC series Pushing Daisies for third place that night.

The show, which had been heralded as the first of a return to the variety skein format made popular by Ed Sullivan, Sonny and Cher and Carol Burnett, tied with the recently canceled ABC series Pushing Daisies for third place that night.
Premiere night ratings for Rosie Live were at 1.2, with a 4 share of the coveted women 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen Media Research. That translates to a dismal 5 million people tuning in to see if Rosie could recapture the title of Queen of Nice.
That sound you hear is Elisabeth Hasselbeck laughing her prissy ass off through the streets of Manhattan, while Barbara Walters asks passerbys if they've read her new book Audition.

That picture and the fact that that piece of trash called a show that's not fit to be mentioned in the same breath as The Ed Sullivan Show in anyway equaled in the ratings to the brilliant Pushing Daisies just made me upchuck!

I love Rosie! Her talents are better suited to a talk show, be it daytime or nighttime, where she can express herself (and bash the Hasselbitch in the process!).

I enjoyed it. I was hoping for more skits, but overall I enjoyed it very much, and I'm sorry she won't get another chance. She did a Christmas special during the days of her talk show, and I thought maybe this show would be like that. Wasn't familiar with all of the talent, but could have watched her and Kathy Griffin the whole show. Oh, well. She seems to be taking it in stride. She tried, she had fun, it didn't work.
For me, I'll wait now for her Lifetime movie.
Her books have been successful, she does wonderful work for children's charity, there's no reason for her to feel badly, or for EH or BW to be laughing. Rosie isn't down and out on her luck or anything. Leaving the View hasn't stopped her from being a success at other things.

Not to be mean but I can't believe they took of shows to put on Rosie her time as one of America's sweethearts is over since the "View" and people saw the real Rosie. They should cancel it before it airs again

I haven't had such a good laugh in a long time!!!!
Oh, thank you Daytime Confidential for the great news! I used to like Rosie until she did what she did to Tom Selleck and then she had to make her opinions known to everyone. Now, I can't stand her. So it goes as no surprise that I am loving this. All I have to say is, "what goes around, comes around, Rosie."

I love Rosie but this show was beneath her talents. Her stint on the View is still being talked about for good reason. She turned Daytime on its ear, with her version of truth telling. I loved her reading the riot act to Elizabitch.

Thank you, eightiesaddict! I love Rosie too. It's disturbing how DC has turned into a bash-Rosie fest. Is DC being overrun by fanatic Republicans?

I wish there was an ignore button so I wouldn't have to deal with the likes of "Mary land girl". Mods, can we bring that feature out please? It saves me a lot of time and energy arguing with *********.

You could just ignore people your self.
Anyways DC has a republican slant???? since when? i mean seriously show me one item that is not mocking the republicans.
Sorry guys (Jamey/etc) i love you guys, but there is no way DC doesn't have a left wing slant,at least the majority, i mean I disagree with alot of stuff but i just shake my head and say "We can disagree on politics but we can all agree Molly B's and most of the hair model's have gotta go".

LMAO! Hunt minks, well gimme one! This pic reminds me of when I saw Exit to Eden where the above pic is from... That movie is the lesson I learned when parents kept saying that certain movies aren't for kids. It wasn't smutty but damnit I wished I never watched it period! Seeing Rosie in that getup made me wanna hurl.

Sounds like I made the better choice by watching Pushing Daisies and recording Bones. Although, sometimes train wrecks are fun to watch -lol!

Anne Rice must have had a stroke when she saw how Rosie and company treated her book. As for Rosie flopping, well I am laughing my non-prissy ass off.
