2nd Annual Soap Opera Spirit Nominations

TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco published his 2nd Annual Soap Opera Spirit Award nominations with over 134 nominations in 23 categories ranging from Outstanding Drama series to Outstanding Younger Actor and Outstanding Costume Design. Jane Elliot and John-Paul Lavoisier, pictured above, were nominated in the Outstand Supporting Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actor categories respectively.

OUTRAGEOUS! Where is Mike's nomination?! He continually has to work beside two hams, Luke and Jamey, and this is the recognition he gets! Shame!!!! Once again the Tom Pelphrey's of the world win over the lovely understatement of the Van Hansis' of the world.

Where is Bree Williamson(Jessica) nomination ? she was amazing this year but they nominated Marcie (Kathy Brier) who what cried a few tears over Starr losing her baby plezzzz :?
Were is Bree nomination for a man who says that OLTL is fav show were is the love for Bree who gave a outstanding performance all year long.
i really appreciate the love for OLTL's set designers & prop stylists!

It's pretty sad when all the ones from Days have ex in front of their names and there were only 3 of them at that. Come on Days get it together you are starting to look worse than Passions.

Congratulations, kids, on your nominations, all of them well deserved. I am more loyal and devoted to your site and podcasts than I am to any of soaps. I visit most every day and listen ASAP to the latest podcasts. Thanks for all you do, and keep up the good work. One thing though. . . don’t believe your press.
Kudos for Nelson to putting on something that is fun, something that honors the best in the biz. I was harsh in my criticism of him earlier this year, and I am sorry for that. Kinda like with DC, I read all three of his TVGC columns each week ASAP. They’ve all made my subway rides much more pleasant. Now, if they could only do something about the smell on the A and C trains.
Various and sundry things:
o I am pleased with the nominations, though I don’t quite understand the difference between lead actress and supporting actress, especially when it comes to Katherine Kelly Lang.
o The photos in the article are great. I just about licked the pictures of Jon Hensley, Van Hansis, William DeVry, and Greg Rikaart.
o I would love to be able to vote on these. On the way home tonight, I carefully, thoughtfully picked my choices from the list. The Outstanding Female Guest Star or Recurring Actress category is the toughest for me. I narrowed my choices down to five.
o I’m also torn between the DC folks in the Outstanding Performer in a Podcast/Webisode/Soap-Related Series category. I can only imagine the delicious rivalry going on! Just keep your spit to yourself.
o Who is the woman in the glasses in the collage with Eden Riegel and Arianne Zucker?
I’m more anxious to hear the results of this than I was to find out the winners of the recent Soaphunks.net Awards.

Congrats DC on your nominations! This is by far one of my favorite websites on the web and I especially enjoy the podcasts. I also like how interactive all of you are with your listeners. I look forward to what you have in store for us in 2009!
Good for Nelson for recognizing Kane Manera and nominating him. He plays a thoroughly complex, evil character so capably, the audience believes he is Grady. The boy has fooled viewers and in my mind, that means he has done an incredible job. I agree with Nelson, he is also a treat on the eyes.
