DC #337: Zane Interview
What started off as a few naughty stories shared with her close friends somehow became a billion dollar empire that firmly cemented Zane as the Queen of Erotica. With a slew of raunchy novels and short story collections, complete with saucy titles like The Heat Seekers, Chocolate Flava and Dear Mr. G-Spot, this self-publishing sensation-turned-New York Times Best Selling author/publisher has proven she isn't bashful about giving her rabid fans the type of unapologetic, sexually-empowering, female-focused fiction they've been starved for in a sea of formulaic chick lit. Zane's books aren't about women finding Mr. Big, her heroines are more concerned with achieving the Big O, two or three in one night if they're lucky, and on their own terms.
This year marks Zane's foray into the world of television. Luke and Jamey caught up with the multitasking mogul who has been busy penning scripts for her new Cinemax prime time soap Zane's Sex Chronicles, based on
two of her best-selling books (Sex Chronicles: Shattering the Myth and Getting' Buck Wild: The Sex Chronicles 2) airing every Friday at midnight. Zane shares with them how the cable network contacted her when they decided they wanted to bring urban erotica to television. She also shares exclusive news about her upcoming telenovela-inspired five-day-a-week soap opera for BET based on her novel Afterburn, as well as plans already in the works to turn yet another of her steamy reads, Addicted, into a major motion picture. It's an interview you won't wanna miss.

If you listened to the interview you would know she is producing a five-day-a-week soap opera for BET.

Okay, you all are entitled to your opinion, but erotica is not trash. Her shows are classified as a primetime drama and she is producing a telenovela and forgive me, but considering the fight Jammy fans have had to get people to accept an incestuous coupling, which many consider to be a trashy concept, I find this a bit hypocritical. And just so you know, Peyton Place, a scandalous novel in the 50s that people called "trash" was later turned into daytime and primetime soaps.

Don't you think there is a difference between a 'couple' on a daytime soap getting together (Jammy) which has been done for YEARS, also its on a network. Vs. The hunt for a big "O"?
Yea Payton Place was scandalous in the 50's, and probably is still today, but it doesn't mean we need to promote the desensitization to this 'content', yea she mite be trying to 'save the soap world' with her show on BET, and that's good for her, and i wouldnt mind that, and i know that you have to cover her 'career', but I believe that as someone trying to 'avoid' porn and crap out there, I would at least have DC as a safehaven, but hey who knows maybe Jenna Jameson will come to Daytime for a stint on DAYS and we can get a interview and talk about her career.
I am not trying to be offensive here, she mite have legions of fans here, but this is a big turn off for me, i have stopped listening to other podcast because of the content and the direction they have gone, i am not saying i am stopping DC, but I will be skipping this episode and It's sad that i have to skip a episode of DC over this kind of 'content'.

Yeah, because women, the main audience for daytime, would never care about such a thing????
d i wouldnt mind that, and i know that you have to cover her 'career', but I believe that as someone trying to 'avoid' porn and crap out there, I would at least have DC as a safehaven, but hey who knows maybe Jenna Jameson will come to Daytime for a stint on DAYS and we can get a interview and talk about her career.

Okay, I can debate with anyone but this remark is patently absurd. Jenna Jameson had real sex on screen. Zane's show is like any other primetime show on cable. The sex isn't real for god's sake. It's no different than Sex and the City or Sopranos. It is not pornography.

What content John??? The words erotica??? When did we go into detail about anything in the storylines???? You act like we were reciting the Vagina Monologues. I'm sorry but this site has something for everyone. If you don't like an episode don't listen to it, but I will not sit here and feel attacked for providing entertainment, without pay no less, for people on this site. If you don't like it, don't listen, but do not preach or try to faux moralize. You and Jammylove both adored Passions. Were you outraged by a hermaphrodite having his father's child??? Did you get skeeved out when Tammy screwed her first cousin? Please. What is the Proctor and Gamble?

In your opinion it's different. For plenty of people incest is disgusting.

Actually Jammylove couldn't stand passions, and yea i was outraged, i ranted about that CONSTANTLY on forums and thats why I DIDNT watch a majority of the final season, i watched very small bits, but it was disgusting. (I STILL Haven't seen the end of passions -.-)
I didn't watch Guiding light then, so i can't comment on Jammy, even though Jammylove has constantly told me about them and such.
I am sure the woman is nice, i am sure that her show is 'fine' and the hunt for the 'o' is something they care about, but again you can't tell me that Cinemax is known for having better content then Passions final run.
Anyways *tries to calm things down a bit lol* I was overboard with the whole Porn star thing, and like i said, this is nothing against the writer, she is filling a 'need', its just not what i come here for.
I've said my points, (Some a little overboard i agree) but i just want to say thanks for debating with me Jamey.

Ok slight gripe here. Couldn't you have picked a better tag for the link LOL. That being said I'm just going to say this interview is not my taste and will be skipped. I am going to get burned for this but I don't care say what you want. This to me no matter what the justification has nothing to do with soaps. I've heard many times on this blog complaints about SN veering off the soap path with SNM's and other stuff and you essentially did the same thing.

Okay, obviously none of you even bothered to listen to the interview. Like good little villagers, you grabbed your pitchforks and began the protest. And you wonder why P&G can't tell a proper story for Nuke? Why don't we burn her books and be done with it? I really thought we had a mature audience who possessed the ability to vote with their remotes, or in this case, the skip button or their iPods if this or any other interview was something they didn't want to hear. Some people, whoever will like it. Anyway, Zane has a primetime soap on Cinemax and a telenovela in development for BET. You know, a Spanish soap opera, only it really isn't a telenovela because it's in English and will air five days a week, gee, what does that make it? oh yeah, a soap opera!

Who's being rude? I just don't like when people try to censor others. Doing an interview with someone who is producing a weekly and a daily soap opera is very much in line with what we do here. Not every show is for everyone, we get that, but don't try to tell us what to cover or act like it's an issue of morality, when daytime has some of the most morally repulsive stories going on in the history of television.

Fine if its about a soap great tell us by giving us more then a one sentence blip about a 5 day a week soap. If it actually highligted the soap aspect then maybe people wouldnt be in an uproar

you don't like being cencored im pretty sure there was a comment deleted here a while ago... and it was deleted.. I guess that person was censored. I can't really look into what you interviewed since the sites are all saying you have to be 18 + Older. Or here about her books " Dear Mr. G spot ! like I really want to know what a G spot is. Like I said this site is going downn way to fast and I am not the only one who feels like this. Some people are just too afraid to post about this.

The uproar is about the word erotica. I am not trying to feel this with you. We provide more soap opera related coverage than any other site on the web and all three mags put together and guess what, we don't get paid to do so, so if we have to branch out a bit to pay the bills, attract larger audiences and get advertisement dollars, so be it. If you cant understand that, I really don't know what to tell you

Okay Jammylove, soaps are also written for adults and for a site that is "going down" so fast, our traffic has doubled in six months.
