The exception being nominations for All My Children’s Debbi Morgan and Cornelius Smith Jr. Who do you think should win? Actor in a Daytime Drama Series Bryton McClure – The Young and the Restless Cornelius Smith, Jr. – All My Children Dan Martin – The Bold and the Beautiful Montel Williams – Guiding Light Texas Battle – The Bold and the Beauitful Actress in a Daytime Drama Series Christel Khalil – The Young and the Restless Debbi Morgan – All My Children Eva Marcille – The Young and the Restless Nia Peeples – The Young and the Restless Tonya Lee Williams – The Young and the Restless 29 Responses season1217 January 8, 2009 Did I fall and hit my head? Texas Battle over Darnell Williams! Is there any more evidence needed to show the lack of diversity in soaps when these are supposed to be the pick of the litter?! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pushing Daisies – You will always be in my heart! Log in to Reply tgable07 January 8, 2009 That’s exactly what I was thinking Season! Log in to Reply uofmichgrad99 January 8, 2009 The fact that Darnell was not nominated is a joke…and Debbi should win hands down. Log in to Reply timepass January 8, 2009 Most of those nominations are just ridiculous, as ridiculous as last year was! Nothing to do with talent! And it is too bad, because we have a lot of talented actors and actresses to chose from! Log in to Reply Ilovethesoaps January 8, 2009 I do feel the same way Darnell is not nominated question. WHY NOT?? I do give thumbs up to Y&R, for keeping black family with a decent storyline. Log in to Reply daysfan65 January 8, 2009 Who is Dan Martin? The guy who plays one of those cops? Darnell should be nominated over him. ____________ aka Peter Vote with your Remote! Log in to Reply season1217 January 8, 2009 Yeah, Dan Martin plays the detective on the show ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pushing Daisies – You will always be in my heart! Log in to Reply Jorpa January 8, 2009 Uh, when did Christel Khalil go to B&B? And WHY was she even nominated??? I think Darnell Williams (why is he not in there?) and Debbi Morgan should have it. Log in to Reply arizona66 January 8, 2009 Here we go again, the cult of the CKLily haters, first off she is on Y & R not B & B. Second, she absolutely deserves to be nominated for her many years of work on Y & R. She is a fine example for young women of color everywhere. Props Christel, I love ya. Log in to Reply Melodie January 8, 2009 Who made this list?!?!? They obviously don’t watch soaps! I’m convinced they just put ppl’s names in a jar and drew them out. Where is Darnell Williams and Kristoff St. John? Debbi better WIN, that’s all I gotta say on this nonsense! Log in to Reply jpp1975 January 8, 2009 If Debbi doesn’t win, it’ll be a travesty. She should have won an Oscar by now, she’s so good. Darnell Williams ought to be there, obviously. Texas Battle’s a nice, appealing actor, but he’s so young, and not a whole lot better than that girl that plays Steffy. James Reynolds (Abe from Days of Our Lives) would be a better choice too, IMO. Montel Williams was good, but on GL for like 2 seconds. Log in to Reply AlistairCrane January 8, 2009 I hope Tonya Lee Williams wins. I’ve always loved Olivia, and she’s a much better actress than CK. Log in to Reply J Bernard Jones January 8, 2009 Would it be to impolitic for me, as a Black man, to say that the NAACP Image Awards show has been a horrific joke for about the past 10 years or more? And, no, Melodie, they don’t really watch soaps. They simply nominate — and generally award — by default any given Black person on Y&R year in and out, then sprinkle in whatever other Black folks’ head shots they come across to fill out the nominees. Log in to Reply dirksunboy January 8, 2009 Can’t understand why Darnell isn’t nominated… I can’t see anyone other than Debbi and Cornelius winning. Log in to Reply Vicky4041 January 8, 2009 I do not understand why some people hate Christel. I love her as Lily. She is beautiful and she doesn’t play Lily so over the top. I also don’t understand Tonya Lee Williams. She’s only been on the show a handful of times this year. I guess it only takes one and I wish she would go back to where she came from. She’s getting on my nerves how she is meddling in everyone’s business. Log in to Reply Jamey Giddens January 8, 2009 Maybe Darnell didn’t submit? Actors have to submit themselves, just like the Emmys. That’s really the only way I could see him being left off. Log in to Reply soapoperafan January 8, 2009 I thought exactly the same thing. Are these people watching the same shows? No Darnell Williams or Lawrence St. Victor from Guiding Light. He finally had a banner year ss Remy and Montel Williams gets the nod? Come on people! Hey, Bernard, love your Avery Brooks picture. I’ve been watching reruns and wondering what he’s been up too Log in to Reply shmotis January 8, 2009 Putting Debbie Morgan on the same list as the other actresses is like putting a diamond in the coal bin. Log in to Reply Jamey Giddens January 8, 2009 Luker Kerr is a better representation of blacks in daytime than certain people on this list. Log in to Reply season1217 January 8, 2009 Jamey, I just read that you’re show House of Payne was also nominated. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pushing Daisies – You will always be in my heart! Log in to Reply Jamey Giddens January 8, 2009 Tyler Perry needs to be ashamed of himself for making the money he does and turning out that horse manuer every week. I wasn’t hating on his plays and even love some of his movies (the more Madea the more tolerable they are), but his television show is absolutelty abysmal. It’s a modern day minstrel show and I wouldn’t wipe my behind with one of those scripts. He can do better than that. Bill Cosby, Debbie Allen, Mara Brock Akil and SO many others have put forth a better example of what a top quality black sitcom should look and be like, with LESS upfront cash, so for him to churn out that cheap drivel is unacceptable. I KNOW Oprah ain’t watching that mess or she would tell her homie to stop with the b.s. Log in to Reply Luke Kerr January 8, 2009 Hey, don’t get me involved in this! LOL Log in to Reply miajere January 8, 2009 CBS, NBC, ABC oughta be ashamed of themselves- If the NAACP wasn’t going to be serious, they shouldn’t do the award. Just honor the people who’ve made contributions to the daytime industry- DM , DW, and TLW….that’s all they had to do. Log in to Reply east.west January 8, 2009 Texas Battle getting nominated for any award w/o the words Worst or Piece of Meat in front of it is shameful. I know that is harsh, but that is how I feel. Log in to Reply daysfan65 January 9, 2009 “Luke Kerr is a better representation of blacks in daytime than certain people on this list.” LMFAO!!!!! ____________ aka Peter Vote with your Remote! Log in to Reply AlistairCrane January 9, 2009 I always thought Nia Peeples was Hispanic, so I was surprised to see her nominated. Log in to Reply verde1984 January 9, 2009 no darnell williams and no kristoff st. john? what is up with this list? Log in to Reply season1217 January 9, 2009 Well the CP does stand for colored people and hispanics are colored. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pushing Daisies – You will always be in my heart! Log in to Reply miajere January 9, 2009 I thought nia peeples was philippino. I’m quite certain she is. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
