We've given The Young and the Restless a lot of love lately, but in light of the fantastic way that One Life to Live has rebounded after the rapemance we thought we'd better record a special emergency episode to talk the great things going on at the ABC soap.

Great podcast...I'm not going to go on and on about my love for OLTL. The show is as close to perfect as I have ever seen, I think we all agree. I just want to give a quick shout out. If you ever do a top 10 most underrated list, be sure to include Brittany Underwood! She continues to shine as Langston and she most def holds her own with the other Cramer women! That is the only reason why I can tolerate Lola now, because I know RC is just planting another seed and before you know it Langston (Brittany) will be front and center!

Just wanted to leave a note of how much I enjoy your podcasts and the overall content of your site. As a 20+ year fan of Y&R and on-and-off fan of OLTL, I've been looking for an informative and entertaining site for soaps, both what I watch and what I don't currently. Daytime Confidential is officially my one-stop shop. Kudos!

i always saw OLTL as the underdog...& as such, its been the only show that i've devoted so much of my life & heart to.

DC always rocks but this podcast was AWESOME!!! OLTL is my favorite ABC soap and is ALWAYS must-see for me. AMC is barely watchable right now and General Mobsters is painful on a good day. But I can't miss the goings-on in Llanview and I'm glad ABC's red-headed stepchild is finally getting the attention it so richly deserves.
Someone over at ABC needs to borrow a page from GH's Ric Lansing and kidnap Brian Frons and Robert Guza and tie them up in a panic room and force them to watch episodes of OLTL. Start with the show where Nash went through the skylight. Look, no gunshots or explosions! Then go to the scenes in the hospital where Nash lay dying and Jess brought Bree to say goodbye and then he said goodbye to Jess. AFter that, jump to the scenes where Rex was recovering from his gunshot wound. Oh look, his family is anziously waiting outside worried about him, just like they would be IRL. No one is having sex in the back of a limo! But there's still drama b/c Bitchy Bangs won't let Gigi in to see Rex, and Shane just found out that Rex is his dad. Finally, show them the New Year's eve episodes of Tarty up on the roof. Explain to them that even though no one is holding a gun, that there's plenty of suspense and NO CGI!
God, I love this show and your podcast!
Long Live Llanview! Ooh, I think I want to put that in my signature! Thanks again for the special podcast and for being the bright spot in the gloomy year that was 2008 in soaps.

I was surprised that while on a message board about Y&R 4 different posters commented negatively about OLTL and some even saying that they just quit watching!
I don’t watch it, I tried since you guy talked so positively about it, but it must be an acquired taste because I dislike it immensely.
should be interesting to know why they don't like it?!?

I completely agree n69n on your Dorian/Alexis remark....I was going to say the same thing a long time ago when someone said Dorian was doing an Alexis "imitation" on OLTL. More like Alexis was the one doing the imitation!
Dorian's takeover of BE at the shareholders meeting was one of my all-time favorite soap moments, and her wardrobe--especially that HAT--was part of the greatness of that scene, imo.

I started watching OLTL in 1980, and have never been as impressed as this past year.
Marty and Todd have the screen on fire, along with John and Blair. How Tea will fit into all of this, we shall see.
If only Andrea Evan has stayed a little bit longer to get swept up into some of these current storylines. I would have loved to see her and Dorian go at it again.
The teens on OLTL are actually interesting, and I am so glad Matthew will be getting a storyline. I hope we get some more of Langston and Marko. It is nice they are not jumping into sex, but actually getting to know one another. Good example for younger viewers.
As for everyone's favorites Lola and Vanessa, this could still turn around to be interesting if it actually leads somewhere. I would be so happy to see A. Martinez return on a permanent basis, to romance either Dorian or Nora (or Lindsey).
Ron C. should get a medal from ABC for completely turning the show around. He has given soap fans a reason to tune back in, and enjoy an intelligent, well written show.

Great podcast on OLTL! I started watching the show as a kid when Carla was 'passing' as white, the Craig's, Wolek's, Joe Riley and watched it whenever I could during summer vacations, college, work, etc. OLTL is on fire under the leadership of RC. How great are the flashbacks of Tea seeing her wedding picture, in the hospital after Blair pushed her out the window, etc... We need diversity on OLTL, but did it have to be Lola and Vanessa? I would rather have RJ, Rachel, even a SORARS of Jamie Vega age her to be around Jack and Shane, and maybe Layla's mom could come to town.,,JMO
Since Liason has been dismantled, GH and B&B are a mess, I'm down to only one soap...OLTL!

Paging the producers and writers of One Life to Live, please bring back Andrea Evans and Tina Lord. They seriously need Andrea Evans to return on the show as Tina Lord is an important character to history and she is a core from the Lord family.
If you're talking about bringing back the corporate world, Tina is it! Of all the past OLTL characters, Tina Lord should be primarily considered to return on the show, IMO. The producers should shift Tina into "Tina the fashionista," and have a young ambitious girl from a lower social class work for her. Back in the 80s, Tina Lord was always the frontburner and should have been the Erica Kane of OLTL, by now. It's still possible, though!
Oh come on, now that we have David Vickers back, Tina should return as well.

Absolutely, I'd also love for both Catherine and Lindsey to return! So yeah, both Tina and Lindsey are part of my top 2 wish list of returning OLTL characters.
There are so many possible and potential storylines for Tina Lord. It would be the right time for Tina's character to return, considering David is back and we'd have the chance to watch Andrea and Tuc in scenes together; nevertheless, still am not fulfilled of Tina's comeback, as I haven't seen her sharing and interacting in scenes with Dorian, Nora, Marty, and Blair just yet. It would be awesome if the producers and the writers were to make Tina and Blair in a rivalry match, since they've shared the same men in the past.

Do you think it's possible? I'd want to see Gigi connected to someone in Llanview! I would also love for Adrianna to return and stir lots of trouble between Rex and Gigi. I really hope they stop casting newbies that are not tied to both the history and core family of the show.

I agree w/Jay when it comes to Marcie. Kill off Michael and then have her be involved w/a character from a core family to cement her place on the show. Kathy Brier has that potential to become the show's next generation of lead actresses if she continues w/the show.

I've watched One Life for years, but I've never really enjoyed it and still don't. It's a take it or leave it with me, I basically have it on for noise, because I hate it to be quiet. That said, I really wanted to coment on Lindsey, she was the best hting that ever happened to that soap. But the head honches must really dislike her, they always give her the shaft.
