HomeTVDesperate HousewivesDesperate Housewives Morning After: “In A World Where The Kings Are Employers” Luke Kerr February 16, 2009 13 Comments Maybe I’m just hypersensitve to the character of Edie Britt on Desperate Housewives all of a sudden, but did anyone else notice during last night’s episode her line that went something like "you have to enjoy it while you’re alive"? Considering we know that Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry is killing of Nicollette Sheridan’s character I couldn’t help but wonder if there wasn’t a bit of foreshadowing going on. What did you think of last night’s episode? 13 Responses gush900 February 16, 2009 Luke i dont get marc cherry’s thinking.Nicolette was handed lemons and made pink lemonade out of this role.Cherry and co our making a huge blunder. While off the subject i know some networks our doing remakes of tv shows.Wouldnt be great if abc did the dynasty remake with Deidre hall as Krystle Jennings and John Mccook as Blake Carrington. Oh gosh and here I was hoping Katherine would meet her boring maker. Log in to Reply DaytimeFan0001 February 16, 2009 I for one have been completely unimpressed with the past two episodes. Nothing has really happened on this show. I miss the days of the Applewhites and of course Mary Alice Young (still my favorite housewife). I am going to miss Edy but for the past season and a half I have had the feeling that she was too detached from the characters and I knew she would be killed off soon. I don’t know what they are trying to do with this show, it’s not working for me. Jumping ahead an unnecessary 5 years, only to address the “economy” is confusing for me. Also, I do not care if Dave Williams gets revenge for his family’s death. I don’t know anything about that character, therefore I could careless about his storyline. IMO this is definitely not the best season. Log in to Reply season1217 February 16, 2009 Edie was always detached from the other characters. That was her role on the show. She was the outsider. Log in to Reply timepass February 16, 2009 I agree with season, they always wrote her as an outsider, like an after thought, and not an original one at that! Could she have been more cliché! You could see her coming a mile saw, could guess her reactions all the time, not once did she surprised me, not once! Log in to Reply season1217 February 16, 2009 I didn’t mean to say she was an outsider in a bad way. Edie was supposed to be an outsider among the other four. She’s that woman that all the other women in the neighborhood kept there eye on when their husbands were around. And really all of the characters are cliches. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. From the very beginning the show was about Susan, Gabrielle, Lynette, and Bree. Log in to Reply J Bernard Jones February 16, 2009 Um, I had no idea that Edie was being killed off, only that Nicollette Sheridan was being written out. Quel suprise! Log in to Reply Courtney fan4life February 16, 2009 yes Edie was a n insider but so is katherine. And to me Edie is MUCH more entertaining than katherine. Log in to Reply Restless Fan February 16, 2009 I’ve become bored with Desperate Housewives. Gabrielle’s shallowness used to be funny, now it’s just annoying. I’m done with the Scavo kids! The twins are utterly annoying. The use of mysterious characters has also gotten old. Every year there is some new “creepy” person who moves to Wisteria Lane. I find the end result of this technique anti-climatic at best. I’m not surprised DH is experiencing its lowest ratings to date. The show is wearing out its welcome. Log in to Reply DaytimeFan0001 February 16, 2009 Restless I agree with you to a bit. Read my above commentary. I am tired of the same old same old, but I don’t think it’s wearing out it’s welcome. There is a lot of potentional there still. They do a good job now where they used to do a great job then. But I hear you when it comes to the typical “creepy” person on the street. I have no interest in Dave WIlliams or the vendetta he has against Mike…and I hate Katherine with Mike as much as I hate Rick with Steffi! Log in to Reply ThatGirl February 17, 2009 I’ve never liked Edie; I’m therefore not sorry to see her go. She’s never contributed to the show, so her departure won’t be sad. Log in to Reply Dariclone February 17, 2009 I, for one, have enjoyed the last couple of episodes immensely. I love that they’re exploring the differences between the haves and the have nots. Log in to Reply LuvCoop1 February 18, 2009 I agree with the other commentators, that Edie (Nicollette Sheridan) has always been on the outside. Her role basically has been to break up other couples by stealing the boyfriends or husbands! Edie was not part of the original 4 housewives of Bree, Susan, Gabrielle, and Lynette. Katherine is also an outsider, but is less entertaining this season than Edie. I liked Katherine better last season. I don’t care for Dave Williams either … he is like a thorn in your side. I wish Scott Pyform (Bree’s son) was on more, I enjoy his antics and he is always surprising and entertaining. Marc Cherry needs to use him more in the story lines. I think Edie will be written off the show and sent back from where she came. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
