DC #362: ABC Paternity, Weddings and Go Red Balls

Just finished listening, I couldn't sleep.

I've been watching GH for 20 plus years, and I don't care that the hospital is getting a revamp. That's the least of my worries and I'm not gonna nit pick on that. Just because it's getting a new set doesn't mean it's not the GH I love, please. They needed a new hospital set, sorry but they did, it was so out of date. Sure GH isn't perfect, it needs to be back on it's a game for sure, which it has been for most of it's 45 plus years. All soaps have their low points or years even. OLTL was in a slump for years. Man when GH gets better I don't know what you guys on the podcast are gonna bitch about. Wait, there's no Quartermaines, the mob, Sonny, I guess there's always something for you guys to bitch about.

I'm a fan of GH now, which isn't perfect and I was a fan way back when in it's glory days. We are in 2009, not 1982. I'm okay with some of the changes, not a fan of some of the casting. Soaps are not going to be what they were in the past people, we need good story telling that's true. I have faith that GH will get back to it's a game. I hope AMC and GL gets back to their a games too, the fans desrve it for their loyalty. Good story telling. But I'm not gonna live in the past with my shows.

I thought that the 'dark secret' that Johnny was referring to is his involvement with Michael's shooting...Why would Lulu leave him if she finds out he isn't Claudia's sister.....she'd be happy...lol...

Hey, guys, great point about the stereotypical damsel in distress woman who needs to be saved or be the victim and never can save herself. I believe it is Frons doing that women are made to be seen, not heard and look at what the women on ABC is being. I do see it on all the soaps and that's why daytime drama gets a bad rap of being bad TV when prime time is doing it right by writing strong heroines and independent women who don't need a man to feel self worth.

GH is the iconic soap, but they are making it look like a bad sci fi movie that SCI_FI wouldn't air. I just don't get it and hope that the behind the scenes changes is coming, but not counting on it.

OLTL is the only soap that is watchable and they are balancing the vets with the newbies that it is not overshadowing the other. I am loving the rivalry with Natalie and Jess and loving Jess and Brody. I hope that they bring it and make it a Viki/Dorian feud with Natalie and Jess. The show is great.

Slight correction/clarification... while there MAY still be this other secret of Johnny knowing/finding out that Trevor is his father, the secret Johnny brought up in the abandoned garage is that he and Claudia had a part in Michael's shooting.

Nikadine fit until Nik was ruined when NL was announced she was coming back. the writers thought ok everyone will love Rebecca and Nik cause nem had some fan base and they were wrong and ruined Nikadine in the process.

Excellent podcast! You are so right on about GH! More holes in that s/l than a sponge. And it looks like the ratings are starting to reflect what the fans are saying.

Hi, ladyofthelake and thank you for your comment. I said in my last column that I am very aware that there are people who are enjoying GH right now and that it makes me feel better knowing that. This was one of my New Years resolutions; to learn to live with this new kind of soap style. I'm trying. My problem is not so much that I'm not finding ANYTHING to enjoy about GH as much as it is about the lack of characters and bit players being involved in them. The stunts are huge and they have all the key characters involved (well most of them) but no extra's? Anyway I just wanted to tell you I appreciate your comment and I'm really glad your geting into GH. Maybe all hope is not lost. Thanks for that boost in my spirit. LOL.

GH will always hold a special place in my heart since it was the first soap I ever watched, but this toxic balls crap is soooo bad that I removed GH from my Tivo. I'm hoping once this latest stunt is over that the show will get back on track, but I'm not holding my breath. The only thing I am enjoying right now is scrubs and Maxie, so I'll continue to watch them on YouTube, but the rest of the show is a total mess.
