Did Kelley Menighan Hensley Squash Liquid Hot Emily and Casey Pairing on ATWT?

The other day you guys wanted to know how I felt about actors having say so over storylines re: Grant Aleksander asking that changes be made in Guiding Light's writers room before he would return. Yesterday I said I was all for it in cases like Aleksander's where Phillip, his once iconic character, had been all-but destroyed by an overzealous head writer.
Then there are cases like the one TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco is reporting today in The Suds Report, about Kelley Menighan Hensley

possibly putting the brakes on her character Emily's so-hot-they-named-it affair with her arch nemesis Margo's son Casey (Billy Magnussen) on As The World Turns. According to Branco's sources, the actress wanted to work with a then-returning Grayson McCouch (Dusty) again, which isn't hard to believe since she was going on and on in the soap press about how much "unfinished business" the pairing had. What unfinished business? Emily trapped him in a shed like a wild dogl!
Reports like this almost make me want soaps to go back to the days of Irna Phillips, who didn't even bother to address actors by their real names. Any actress who doesn't realize her character havin an affair with a hunk half her age is Soap Opera Gold, needs career counseling, STAT. The Emily/Casey/Margo/Tom/Daniel storyline was some of the best stuff on soaps last year, as good as a lot of the storylines that played out on Y&R and OLTL, yet for some head-scratching reason they aborted it, along with the equally red hot Carly/Holden affair. Some seem to have gotten over that and gotten onboard the Craig and Carly Puke Train, but I haven't.
ATWT pisses me off almost as much as Days, because what they were doing was actually good, riveting soap opera for much of 2008 and if you listen to our podcast, I was giving them mad props for that, while everyone else was loving that back-in-time debacle on One Life to Live or Sudden Upchuck on Y&R. To even think they stopped what was working because this actor wanted to work with that actor, well it beats all I've ever seen and heard! Good thing OLTL and Y&R are both on fire now, so I don't have to worry about getting a good soapy fix from ATWT.

Testify, Jamey!!!! ATWT's Emily and Casey were hot, hot, hot!!! Casey has no chemistry with that whiney Alison. While the writing on ATWT does suck, the actors still should not dictate storylines. Reminding the writers of a character's history is one thing, but demanding to be paired with a certain actor is something entirely different. Is it any wonder after the Emily/Dusty reunion bombed that Kelly hasn't had a storyline since? Hmmmm. ATWT, to use one of your phrases, is a damn mess. I will not watch the endless Paul, Meg, Dusty and Carly/Craig crap. Voting with my remote!

Personally, I say good! If she's fool enough to want to go back to portraying the pathetic shell of a woman she was with Dusty than go ahead and be my guest. I don't get it. Why do the producers and writers let these actors get away with it. If you can recast Martha Byrne than who the heck is Kelley Menighan Hensley anyway?!

If she did, I am sooooo disappointed, not to mention TPTB still didn't put Emily with GM's Dusty, so it was all for nothing.
This bugs me greatly cause I really enjoyed Emily/Casey and there were no good reason why that should have ended as it did especially because Emily/Dusty didn't happen cause he threw her over for Josie, then Meg. Bad call, KMH, if this is true. And even worse call on the part of TPTB. I need a hair puling out emoticon to insert here.
Maybe that's why her screen time has been so greatly reduced since she took the one really good storyline she had that could have been milked for a long while and threw it out the window.

It makes absolutely so much sense to me. I saw how Kelley went, "no offense Billy, but it is Grayson!" Here she was gushing about him, when Grayson was pretty nonchalant (and he know how to be gushy!)
She says she's happy and that Em should be celibate and evaulate her life, but I think she said that as reactionary to Goutman/Grayson's attitudes in all this.
I wonder if Goutman's decision to halt Dum was an Eff you to Kelley as a lesson on appreciating what she had.

I miss Casey and Emily. They were the reason I started to watch the show again. Unfortunately, ATWT is trying to force Alison down our throats...uggh. I'm sorry but Alison and Casey just puts me to sleep. If they can't put Emily and Casey back together, I would rather they hook him up with Jade...I guess
