HomeTVThe Bold and the BeautifulKyle Lowder: Rick is “Self-Centered And Downright Sleazy at Times” Darren Lomas March 3, 2009 The Bold and the Beautiful 6 Comments Michael Fairman has just posted his latest interview with The Bold and the Beautiful co-stars Kyle Lowder (Rick Forrester) and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester). There don’t appear to be plans to shelve Rick and Steffy’s borderline-incestuous “romance”, despite the lukewarm reception from fans. Kyle had this to say about the onscreen relationship: I believe in this couple. In my opinion, if and when it does not work out I believe there is a nice foundation being laid. Not to compare us to a Brooke and Ridge, but it’s not the amount of times they break-up. It’s that something will always draw them back together again and viewers would want that. Kyle also reveals his thoughts on Rick’s change in character: My challenge every day is to maintain almost a charming likeability in the midst of being so unbelievably self-centered and downright sleazy at times, for people to be like, ‘Oh, he is so deliciously gross.’ That’s been the challenge! It seems that not everyone is convinced Rick will be liked if he continues down the same path, although Lowder has faith in his character’s journey: And I quote, as some people have said to me, ‘Brad’s really writing this character into a corner.’ I feel as long as I keep doing my work I don’t see it that way. A character does not always have to be likeable, or a hero and charming all the time to stay on the canvas and be liked. If anything, it’s a lot more fun to be the antagonist. How’d that happen when he has such shining examples as Eric Forrester and Brooke Logan as his parents? Log in to Reply daisyclover1938 March 3, 2009 I haven’t read the full interview yet, but my initial reaction is: Yes! “Deliciously Gross” is exactly how I want Rick to be…actually “deliciously bitchy” is more like it, but I won’t quibble As for his take on Rick/Steffy: uhm… honestly he’s “deliciously delusional” if he thinks fans are going to become invested in this pairing – and being the next generation’s Brooke and Ridge is not necessarily something he should be aspiring towards, IMO Log in to Reply Miry March 3, 2009 …hehe, damn, I should have picked THAT (Deliciously Delusional)as my handle instead of my actual nickname! Log in to Reply THEBEST March 3, 2009 At least he he knows that his character is no romantic hero. I love Kyle… Log in to Reply daisyclover1938 March 3, 2009 I like Kyle too, THEBEST and I’ve always liked him better when he plays a jerk (on B&B and when he first started on DAYS) btw, I’m going to start calling Ronn Moss Deliciously Wooden, lol Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 March 3, 2009 I was thinking that Kyle Lowder would be on B&B before they cast him as Rick. I just hate Reffy and wish that the show would stop with these incestuous relationships. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
