HomeTVAll My ChildrenWhat Goes Up, Must Come Down Regan Cellura March 27, 2009 All My Children, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, One Life to Live, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and The Restless 22 Comments General Hospital climbed back on top of the ABC ratings race last week but what goes up, must come down and this week Bob Guza has been beat by his ABC counterparts. All My Children is hardly the soap to model yourself after but One Life to Live is, and Ron Carlivati needs to start handing out pointers to his co-workers. I know I shouldn’t be happy about my beloved GH falling to the bottom of the food chain at ABC Daytime but I love OLTL so much more right now I can’t help but be a little giddy! I hope all the RUMBLINGS are true and the people above our dreaded PTB ( powers that be ) are making steps to fix what is most defintely broken. 1. Y&R 3.6/12 (same/-.3) 2. B&B 2.4/8 (-.1/-.5) <——— ties low rating 3. DAYS 2.2/7 (+.2/same) 4. AMC 2.0/7 (+.1/same) 4. OLTL 2.0/7 (same/same) 4. GH 2.0/6 (-.1/-.3) <———- ties low rating 7. ATWT 1.8/6 (-.2/-.5) 8. GL 1.5/5 (-.2/-.4) 22 Responses Nathang1983 March 27, 2009 Good to see Days was number 3 even if it does suck a$$. Log in to Reply Luke Kerr March 27, 2009 I would kill to be a fly on the wall of JFP or Guza’s offices right about now…OLTL beat GH last fall, AMC beat GH earlier this year and now both of them beat GH in the same week. Way to go GH. Log in to Reply daisyclover1938 March 27, 2009 OMG! Look at GL!! That’s horrible! Very depressing… Log in to Reply Regan Cellura March 27, 2009 IF you listen to all the GOSSIP, GH is not a happy place. RUMORS of firings and unhappy actors over storylines and possibly being downgraded. They are getting a boatload of bad press. Someone over there needs to wake up and smell Sonny’s coffee. Also, Weds was the lowest day last week. A 1.8! That’s the day NASCAR driver Jeff Burton was on, Carly and Jax renewed their vows and Robin was hanging in Rochester. Log in to Reply lizznJas4ever March 27, 2009 I am also loving OLTL right now! I will not go back to GH until some major changes are made. I’m glad that they are doing so horribly! Log in to Reply zurge March 27, 2009 Jeez, I thought GL was gaining some (much deserved) momentum…I guess not Log in to Reply THEBEST March 27, 2009 I hope that the ratings continue to slip for GH. Maybe once Frons’ crowned jewel starts to falter, he will get his ass in line. I knew eventually that Guza’s pact with the devil would expire. It’s about goddamn time! Log in to Reply BigDede March 27, 2009 I also hope that the ratings for GH continue to slip. I haven’t watched in months and I miss Liz/Lucky/Cameron/Nik/Maxie. It’s hard for me to watch what they are doing to Ric also. As soon as they fix things I will watch again. But at least the ratings show people ain’t love Sonny/Claudia/isn’t she gone yet Olivia. Log in to Reply kgbmc March 27, 2009 I can understand GH, they deserve to figure it out by now. I guess the “training” of the audience is not working as well these days for Frons. I cannot understand GL. I love it. It is really managing to tell some stories by using a talented cast. Log in to Reply daysfan65 March 28, 2009 B&B doesn’t deserve to have 10 people watching it. I would be so happy to see it drop to 3, even if it means DAYS is 2. Log in to Reply babydoll23 March 28, 2009 Frons & CO. deserve those ratings. Log in to Reply gwynnega March 28, 2009 I’m delighted to see GH the lowest rated ABC soap, and especially to see OLTL besting it. Hopefully this means they’ll start considering telling actual stories again on GH, and not just boring retreads of retreads. As for poor GL, I can’t help but think that it would be doing a lot better by now if it had some actual production values. Log in to Reply n69n March 28, 2009 that trio of creeps on GH refusing to take a paycut seems pretty ridiculous now. Log in to Reply ohwowreally March 28, 2009 im sooooo glad gh is at the bottom of the abc soaps right now b/c that show sucks some kind of bad right now…and to think that used to be my favorite soap…(well it still is i just can’t stomach it at the moment) i haven’t watched gh since december and have since been watching oltl…i love oltl, it’s soooo good. Last week was exceptionally good, im pretty sure i teared up on every episode of that i watched last week….esp. the nora and cole scenes, boy those scenes really had me blurry eyed Log in to Reply sueboo54321 March 28, 2009 Regan – What is that saying? If the way I feel is wrong, I don’t want to be right. I am very happy that the ratings for GH continue to flatline. This has to be the only way TPTB will take a look and make some changes. They have to shake up the behind the scenes staff. They need new writers with fresh ideas instead of just playing musical couples and hoping they strike gold. If they are going to do some socially relevant story, it would help if they paid someone to do a little research. THey just keep shaking up the actors and characters and overlooking the production crew. As for OLTL – There is so much love for the show from everyone at DC. Why isn’t there any daily spoilers and recaps? I would love to read daily reactions. Log in to Reply jason2gether March 28, 2009 I am loving almost every story on OLTL except Stacy (I could like her a little more if they gave her even a little heart or a second of guilt, but so far I fast forward) GH just keeps ruining even the greatest of characters, rotating couples being the worst but none of the characters remain true to themselves. If a good character is going to turn bad or the bad guy is going to do something good lets find out why not just throw it into the story. I can barely watch the train wreck of a show, shame there was a time I could not wait for the next episode. Log in to Reply jefhamlin March 28, 2009 Aren’t these numbers from a week when the CBS soaps were off on Thursday and Friday? Seems we shouldn’t put a lot of stock in them. Log in to Reply daisyclover1938 March 28, 2009 Yep, you’re right jefhamlin. These ratings are for March 16-20, the week that CBS shows weren’t on Thurs and Friday. Log in to Reply sueboo54321 March 29, 2009 Someone explain to me why it matters if CBS wasn’t on two of the days. The ratings are for the three days that they were on. Would it have mattered to people watching Mon – Wed that it wouldn’t be on Thurs and Fri? I don’t get it but I am tired. Log in to Reply daisyclover1938 March 29, 2009 From what I understand (and I could be wrong) the ratings are taken from the average of the week. Having those Thursday and Friday’s ratings may have helped those shows and not having those days’ ratings could account for the decrease on CBS shows (Y&R, B&B, ATWT, GL) EDIT: Oops, sorry. Y&R actually stayed the same. Log in to Reply inspiron March 30, 2009 it’s about time people caught on! oltl has been so much better than GH and AMC for years! and ATWT with the fabulous actors it has should be blowing away GH and AMC! Log in to Reply DOOLJunkie March 27, 2009 Days is like a horrible accident. You should look away, but you can’t. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
