HomeTVAll My ChildrenQuote of the Day: “I Feel Like I’ve Wasted The Last Six Years” Luke Kerr April 6, 2009 All My Children, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, One Life to Live, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and The Restless 16 Comments Is it possible that I just watched/heard a full blown repudiation of the Lynn Marie Latham years come out of Jill Abbott’s (Jess Walton) mouth on The Young and the Restless? Even if it wasn’t, the quote "I feel like I’ve wasted the last six years" is still worth the quote of the day. What was your favorite quote of the day on your favorite soap? 16 Responses soapjunkie88 April 6, 2009 I love that quote. And I also loved Jill saying that this mother/daughter thing never felt right and felt like it was forced. Great job, MAB!!! That was exactly my feeling for the past years. Log in to Reply Coffee_Junkie April 6, 2009 I only feel that way now that Maria Arena Bell is trying to hit the rewind button. She should have left well enough alone. Log in to Reply luverica April 6, 2009 I’m actually glad that Jill and Kaye are no longer mother and daughter and back to being one of the best rivals in soap opera history but watching both fighting through their pain in their own way at the news has been very touching. As always, I give major props to Jess Walton and Jeanne Cooper for their performances. Log in to Reply hunterforrester April 6, 2009 She’s not the only one! Log in to Reply monamis April 6, 2009 Uhh…how do you figure this is LML’s issue? The Kay/Jill issue is more than 6 years old. LML’s tenure was 06-08. Is she now the boogie man too? is she responsible for the crappy ratings MAB is getting now too? Come on guys, if you don’t check your facts, who in the hell is going to? Log in to Reply Luke Kerr April 7, 2009 lol….point taken. monamis, when I wrote it I wasn’t meaning to say that LML was to blame for all of the six years, just that this statement seemed like a repudiation of the past six years, of which LML was a part. LML certainly wasn’t soley responsible for the past six years, others such as Kay Alden was too. Log in to Reply monamis April 7, 2009 Thank you Luke, my heart skipped a beat. I trust you guys to get the facts straight even if we disagree. Thank the lord! Log in to Reply snizzle April 7, 2009 I agree with monamis. Jack Smith is more culpable than LML for the Kay-Jill mother/daughter storyline. I’m another who believed MAB should’ve just left well enough alone but Jeanne Cooper is the one who pushed for the story to be undone. Log in to Reply Jorpa April 7, 2009 I loved when Katherine announced to everyone that “this thing is NOT my daughter!” LOL Log in to Reply kshan128 April 7, 2009 Haha I also loved “this THING is NOT my daughter!”…got a good laugh out of me Log in to Reply Coffee_Junkie April 7, 2009 Would anyone believe me if I said that the Jill/Katherine mother/daughter plot was an idea that BILL BELL kicked around for YEARS? I used to know someone that was once affiliated with the show. It was HIS baby, not something Jack Smith and Kay Alden came up with. They just finally decided to bite the bullet and go through with it to mark the 30th anniversary of the show. I can’t help but think that if viewers actually believed Bill Bell came up with that plot, people would be saying, “BRILLIANT!” and not trashing the writing regime that was at the helm when they actually went through with it. Log in to Reply Jillian Bowe April 7, 2009 I’d still trash it Coffee_Junkie. Contrary to some, we’re not on Y&R’s payroll so we’ll say what we really feel about the show….. As for the line of the day Stephanie to Taylor when Taylor tells her to stay at the pool house @ Eric’s: "I do NOT want to lie awake at night wondering are those crickets or bedsprings I hear!" DYING about that. Log in to Reply tashlover April 7, 2009 I’m not sure how I feel about the reversal of Katherine and Jill as mother and daughter. While I was never a fan of the decision to relate them in the first place, other than the initial shock following this reversal, I’m not sure where they are going to go with this. The performances are flawless but the fact that they thought they were mother and daughter for the last five years will not be erased for me. Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 April 7, 2009 I feel that they can have a tedious “mother/daughter” bond, but I glad that they are at each others throats again. Jill has been watered down and Kay needs to get her bitchiness back. Murphy can be the go-between for Jill and Kay. Y&R is doing great and hope the action continue. Log in to Reply Pure_Diva April 8, 2009 I don’t know how I feel about the Kay/Jill mother-daughter story. I was one of the ones who HATED their pairing in the first place & thought it was a contrived, ridiculous mess at the time. But, I’ve gotten used to it over the years. I also wish MAB had just left well-enough alone. This one story has taken every remaining shred of credibility out of any DNA test on this show. As far as we know, NOBODY is related to anyone else! Log in to Reply monamis April 8, 2009 I know Pure and Coffee_Junkie, all of this revisionist crap is starting to feel like a meglomania on MAB’s part. If she starts to touch Cane’s paternity, it’s on! Making him a Chancellor was the best thing LML did. It was brilliant, and created a lot of turmoil for Jill and Kay.
