HomeTVDesperate HousewivesSheridan Rips “Housewives” Cherry Jillian Bowe April 15, 2009 9 Comments The saga between Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan (Edie Britt) and show creator Marc Cherry is starting to heat up. TV Guide Magazine spoke to the actress who states she would’ve left the show earlier on but she and the other ladies of the show, were locked into a contract and weren’t able to leave. The star also gives her view on why Cherry killed off the vixen. Somebody up there really wanted her dead. I think whoever Edie represented in Marc’s life was somebody he didn’t like. And he had a very difficult time distinguishing between fact and fiction. Ouch! She doesn’t mince words! Sheridan also talked about how she felt Cherry overlooked her by never adding her to the dramedy’s opening credits, and barely mentioning her when interviewed. Here’s what Cherry had to say in response: Edie’s already slept with most of the guys on the street and has caused about as many problems as she could. As for adding another blond bombshell to the canvas as a replacement for Sheridan, Cherry nixed that idea. We will find a new kind of sexiness coming through Wisteria Lane. What I won’t do is cast another fortysomething sexy blonde," he adds. "[Sheridan] performed the aging, neighborhood tramp better than anyone has ever done before. Has someone been going to the Brian Frons and Charles "UpChuck" Pratt school of PR? 9 Responses pecola April 15, 2009 I think something’s in the water at ABC… Log in to Reply SoapSnob April 15, 2009 To Marc Cherry’s comment, “She performed the aging, neighborhood tramp better than anyone has ever done before.” Nicollette hissed, “That’s so funny. Oh, he’s such a bitch.” Meow! And I am sure she said with just a touch of Paige Mathison flair. Log in to Reply Courtney fan4life April 15, 2009 Im mad he killed off Edie. She was funny. Unlike Katherine who overstayed her welcome and sucks with Mike. i also like how the actress that plays Katherine is pimping her unpopular pairing with Mike cause she knows without that she is useless. But then again, its on ABC….and much like it’s daytime counterparts…it’s run ragged. Just my opinion….but again, she’ll bounce back. Log in to Reply DenverDean April 15, 2009 I always wondered why she was never moved to opening credits. She’s on the cover of DVDs; etc. I did jump during second season but I gathered she was still important to show. Tuned in once in while; not sure there’s any reason to bother. Log in to Reply timepass April 15, 2009 Nic Sheriden is always playing the same role. She only has one note “the slut note”! She probably put herself on the blacklist of “why would you hire a whiner”, with this comment. Who would take a chance of hiring her and having her turn on them at the end. She was in no way, shape or form essential to DH! Log in to Reply Jamey Giddens April 15, 2009 I totally disagree Timepass. Edie Britt is absolutely nothing like Sheridan’s signature role as Paige Mathison on Knots Landing. Sure at first Paige sexed up Seaview Circle by bedding her stepbrother and her dad’s mortal enemy, but shortly into her run, she became the show’s main heroine. She also kicked butt and took names in the insanely popular Jackie Collins miniseries as Italian lady mob boss Lucky Santangelo. Marc Cherry might not have seen her as more than just the neighborhood slut, but she definitely is. Finding out she was in the cast early on is what made me watch. I will definitely continue to watch, but going into this project, Nicollette was pretty much the biggest names in terms of primetime soap cred. Felicity had a cult hit with Sports Night. Marcia Cross was famous as MP’s Kimberly, but that was more for the character than her star power and Eva was an unknown save for her turns on GH and Y&R. Terri Hatcher was beloved from Superman, but I bet Sheridan helped lure plenty a Knots Landing fan to another soap set in a cul de sac. Log in to Reply THEBEST April 15, 2009 Edie was essential to this show. I have always hated how the character was treated. Hell, even Dana Delaney came on later and got better treatment. Marc Cherry made a stupid mistake and it will catch up to him. I wish Nicollette all the best. Log in to Reply Dariclone April 16, 2009 Ouch! Definitly sounds like there’s some bad blood there. I never really cared for Edie and I ddn’tknow Nicollette from anything else, but it certianly sounds like Marc Cherry is being childish. Too bad, I excepted more from him.
