On today's CBS and Days of Our Lives episode of Daytime Confidential Luke, Jamey, Jillian and Melodie discuss the latest in As the World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, Guiding Light and The Young and the Restless news and storylines, including:
It must almost be summer because Noah's dad is returning to As the World Turns. Luke was just kidnapped by The Wonder Twins, can't Luke and Noah get a break? Meanwhile Lily Snyder is running around town like Little Red Riding Hood. Something excited Jillian on As the World Turns, now what could have made that happen?
The Bold and the Beautiful's Ridge Forrester is turning into the Six Million Dollar Man, facing down a private jet and running to stop Rick from marrying his daughter. Jackie and Owen got it on. Does it make sense for Jackie to be pushing Owen off? Now that Rick and Steffy are broken up she may be paired with Marcus.
Phillip Kiriakis was shot on Days of Our Lives and provided an opportunity for Shelley Hennig to shine or falter, which was it? The Kiriakis versus DiMera rivalry finally has a motivation. Could this be a good storyline? Jamey doesn't believe that Dena Higley is responsible for Days of Our Lives' improvements. He believes that Gary Tomlin is responsible.
Paul Anthony Stewart is returning to Guiding Light. Could his return usher back in the mob? BethAnn Bonner is joining the cast, but it isn't as Michelle. Who could she be and what is her motivation? Bill and Lizzie will be facing problems, leading up to their wedding. Shouldn't Bizzie be able to have some happiness until they say their vows? Frank needs to buy a clue. He's a cop and he can't even figure out what Natalia is thinking.
The Chipmunk Chronicles are over on The Young and the Restless. Ashley is going crazy, but why is she wandering around the woods? Gloria, Jeff and Jill are teaming up to take on the all powerful Victor Newman. Do they even have a chance? The one thing that might give them an edge is that - love her or hate her - Gloria's got hustle. Does Heather Stevens have potential, as a character?

I like the Ashley gaslighting storyline. Somethings are kinda stupid with it which you all pointed out but I am looking forward to everything coming out about it.
Thank you Jamey about the stuff on Mackenszie working in the bar. It's stupid, why didn't they make her come back as a business woman. Someone is going to have to take over Chancellor now that Jill isn't her daughter.
I guess people won't be saying you all drink the MAB Kool-aid anymore...wait Cane and Lily Fans will probably see differently. LOL

Jamey (once again) hit the nail on the head with regard to B&B and its quick stories. Jackie's motivation with Owen and the confusion over Rick's motivation with Steffy is interesting. But, because they never stop to discuss their issues with other people - we are expected to infer their motivation. I can only hope the rest of the audience is as bright as Jamey.
Jackie needs a scene where she discussed Owen with Stephanie and Rick needs someone to talk to other than his Mother. Brad Bell needs to slow down this choo choo train.
BTW - I never forget that Brad's first story for his Father was "Lauren buried alive." At the time it seemed out of pace with the rest of Y&R. However, it was clearly Brad's vision and it has not matured with time.

Brock is the son of Kay and her first husband Gary Reynolds. Cane is Jill and Philip's son. Mac and Cane share no DNA.

I am in the process of listening and wanted to point out that on GL, Reva and Beth's mother weren't necessarily friends, but they developed a kinship during the cancer storyline. They became really close during that time.
On another note, regarding Mac...is anyone forgetting that her last relationship was with JT? She was pregnant with JT's child and lost the baby before she left. Billy wasn't her last GC relationship. They should revisit that.

thecourt, Billy and Mac were the endgame before Kay Alden decided to have them be related. That's why it wasn't revisited. They need to address that Billy and JT were tight. He needs some friends besides Paul/Nick.

I know Jill and Kay aren't related but I thought Cain is the son Jill had with Kay's husband Philip Chancellor -- that is why Kay did the whole baby switch that made Cain be raised in Austraila. Cain is the "real" Philip Chancellor junior -- the replacement for Jill's son Philip who loved "Cricket" and then fathered Nina's son be fore he died. That Philip was Kay's husband's son and therefore Brock's half-brother.
P.S. I agree in any case that Mac/Cain would be BORING but on the other hand I bet Nina could whip some life into Cain...

I'm happy Danny is coming back, I don't want the mob story mainly because it wloud look ridiculous in Peapack, Springfield. Also I don't get why they have to throw yet another person in the mix of Bizzie.
Maybe it will be some test for us viewers to see that Bill Lewis really can keep it in his pants but seriously why don't they ease up on Bizzie.

Hey, guys, love the podcast and B&B and ATWT is a joke and I wish that something will happen behind the scenes to make the show watchable again. I hate Reffy or Sick as I call them on B&B and hope that this is a end for them. No chemistry whatsoever and they need to recast the role of Steffy because the girl cannot act to save her life. She needs to go and Kyle Lowder needs to tone it down a lot because I am so sick of the woe is me of Rick. He needs to get over it because Brooke will never change.
ATWT needs to stop with the plot point of Nuke and write a well written role for them because they are getting bored with their characters. Who can blame them for the bad writing for them lately. Jean Passante and Chris Goutman needs to be fired but since Barbara Bloom doesn't care about what the fans want, we are stuck with them. I will not watch the show until both are gone and a good writer and exec are hired to fix this show.
Y&R needs to fix the behind the scene stuff with the Winters family. Get rid of Eva the non acting Diva and the singing child and bring Victoria Rowell back or a strong black actress like Amelia Marshell or Renee Jones to play Neil's love interest. The treatment of Nia Peeples was out of line and I am pissed of about the way that the AA viewers are not being represented on a show that was well represented for years and AA are the one to watch daytime tv are getting the shaft. I hope that the show is getting better, but I not getting my hopes up. I want a Rafe and Adam pairing.

After coming off stellar performances last week on GL and Y&R, I have to say, I thought this week's episodes of those two shows have been a little disappointing.
I have to say: on Clementine Ford's Mac, I have to concede that I'm just not feeling it. I wanted to like her--because of the affection I have for the character and also because I liked Clementine Ford's work on TLW--but I just can't do it. Mac's relationship with Katherine is paramount to who she is and yet everytime I watch them together, I feel like they're two strangers who just met.
Plus, the political side of me just hates how they throw around Darfur like Mac just got back from rural Mississippi or something (instead of, you know, a warzone where genocide is happening) bothers me. I guess in the parallel world of soaps it TOTALLY makes sense that your chief concern after watching the systematic slaughter of a generation is how to get back with your ex-hubby. Sigh.
I'm over it.
Anyway...another day, another great podcast...the sporadic bursts of song were my favorite...

GL- Mel loves Otalia and hates Frank, Jamie defends Frank and then all silliness breaks out! LOL! As for the return of Danny, maybe it will only be a few days like Krista for the 3 muscateers.
DOOL - Philip getting shot in the chest and all that blood pooling in the bed had me thinking it was a dream sequence for a second it was so vivid. I thought Shelley Henning did a good job here for her.
Now we have a blood feud between Victor and Stephano. I guess this will keep Stephano in Salem. I was worried after John and Marlena left that they would get rid of Stephano.

Jamey you mentioned you can't believe these rich kids would work at Jimmie's, I can't believe any of them would set foot inside that bar. If they have Jimmie's does that mean they are going to get rid of Indigo(the place that is owned by an alchohlic and child singing there). What ever happened to the Colonade room?
The only reason Ashley went outside for her walk was so she could see that statue of Sabrina.
I want to see Billy's reaction when he finds out that Mac lost her virginity and got pregnant by the town's former devirginizer.
Personally when it comes to couples, when they were popular 4 or 5 years ago and at least one half has been recasted twice, I don't want to see them reunited again.
When it comes to Cane and Paris Hilton/Lily the jam in that relationship is Humphrey.

The youngsters can hang at Crimson Lights and I don't so much mind Indigo, but Jimmie's seems to DAYS for me. Y&R is about rich people behaving badly. I don't want to see a bunch of models, executives, designers and artists frequenting some tacky dive bar.

I don't believe they did, but I could be wrong. Regan or Tina said that Steve Burton does this and Jamey has mentioned Leslie Kay.
When Jamey said something about Maria making the rich kids earnest I got to thinking: Is Noah still in public school or did Nick and Sharon transfer him to Walnut Grove. I remember them saying that if Noah got out of line they were going to transfer him. Noah wanted to go to public school instead of Walnut Grove and didn't he want to do some charity work. I think Lauren and Micheal could send Eden there and Abby could go to.
Jamey I don't mind Indigo, but I wish they would make it strictly a nightclub and don't allow that little girl to sing. If they are going to rebuild Gina's, keep Kevin away. Maybe they can just call the Athletic Club the Colonade room and be done with it.

East West, I have always felt Ron's portrayal of Alan was a bit cartoonish. The writing hasn't helped, since the make him so over-the-top and menancing. I like patriarchs like CC Capwell and Spencer Harrison, who are manipulative, powerful, controlling, but not buffoonish.
