ATWT’s Van Hansis Auditioned for Gossip Girl, Kings

Ruh roh. Jean Pass-The-Salami (Jillian is Love!) better sit her behind down somewhere and try to write something resembling a decent storyline for Van Hansis. The Suds Report is saying the actor is busy trying to book new gigs!

Should Nuke fans be worried about losing Luke Snyder? Van Hansis (Luke) recently told The Suds Report he’s been busy auditioning for roles in independent films and nighttime shows. “I was even up for roles on Gossip Girl and [new NBC series] Kings,” reveals the Daytime Emmy-nominated superstar. “But I’m not planning on leaving World Turns just yet. It’s good to keep your options open. I have outs in my contract.” Very smart, Van, considering World Turns may only be spinning for one more year."

Good for Hansis. He is much too talented to become like so many soap actors who start phoning it as a result of complete frustration and exhaustion after one turkey of a storyline after another. He would kill as a villainous Park Avenue Poser on Gossip Girl! Luke and Noah (Jake Silbermann) and Maura West are the only things keeping ATWT afloat these days. Losing any of those three actors would do to the show what losing Tom PelphreyRicky Paull Goldin and Beth Ehlers did to Guiding Light in no time flat, mark my words.

Altough I would hate, hate, hate to see Van leave ATWT, I don’t blame him for exploring his options. The writing on that show is beyond atrocious. If it weren’t for the chemistry of Van and Jake, I would’ve left this sinking ship long ago. Van and Jake are both too talented for the shit Jean Pass-The-Salami and Chris Goutman churn out with all the thought of monkies on crack. They need to start writing character driven stories and slowing the pace of the show down soon. If Van leaves (and Jake will most likely be written out with him), that’s it. Put a fork in the show. It’s over.

Good for Van (and his agents/management team) for getting him “options” in his contract with ATWT. I wish him all the best in his search for work outside of ATWT.

Hmm. It’s not really news to me. I already knew about him auditioning for shows like L&O. I also don’t think it’s uncommon for (especially) young actors to keep auditioning. I don’t think Van is the only one.
