It looks like Brian Frons will have an easier time justifying all the loot he shelled out to take General Hospital Hi Def. According to the latest Nielsen Ratings, ABC's flagship sudser gained an impressive 234,000 viewers the week of April 27-May 1, 2009, resulting in a two-tenths of a point ratings gain in households. GH also gained one-tenth of a point in the coveted Women 18-49 demographic. GH's sibling soaps, All My Children and One Life to Live also showed growith in total viewers, 62,000 and 85,000 respectively. Both AMC and OLTL also held steady in households, while OLTL gained one-tenth of a point among Women 18-49.

Both Bell soaps dropped one-tenth of a point among Women 18-49. P&G's As The World Turns added 16,000 viewers to hold steady in the demos. The big ratings success of the week for the Tiffany Network was experienced by Guiding Light, which added 130,000 total viewers, causing the soap to go up one-tenth of a point in households and among Women 18-49. The scary news is the recently cancelled Guiding Light is only separated from OLTL by about 270,000 viewers.
