HomeTVThe Oprah Winfrey ShowOprah Received More Appreciation for Chicken than Cars Luke Kerr May 8, 2009 The Oprah Winfrey Show 6 Comments It isn’t always the biggest things that matter the most to people. On today’s The Oprah Winfrey Show Oprah revealed that more people have told her thank you for the KFC grilled chicken meal coupons than she has for the cars she’s given away. Viewers also learned that they can take any unused coupons in to KFC and the fast food chain will write down their contact information so that they can be mailed a coupon for the free grilled chicken meal, and they’ll throw in a Pepsi. The explanation provided for the chicken shortages is that KFC expected customer’s use of the coupons to be staggered, not all at once. By sending out the coupons they’ll be able to stagger usage and ensure that everyone receives the best service. As Oprah put it "people are hungry." 6 Responses MichaelKnight May 8, 2009 Except now the problem, as many customer’s already complained about is that they have to give their private information to some store drone (and said drone now has the horrible job of having to write down everyone’s information). In the age of identity theft I’m sure the last thing in the world anyone wants to do is give their private information to some 16 year old kid. P.S. Lame excuse btw as to why they were not accepting the coupons. KFC agreed to the posting of the coupon on her website (which is viewed by millions) and KFC was to honor said coupon. It is not her fault that KFC did not honor their commitment. She held up her end of the bargain. Log in to Reply shackfan May 9, 2009 KFC was not prepared for this. They should have been . come it is Oprah they should have know that millions would have printed those coupons Log in to Reply MichaelKnight May 9, 2009 Another thing that’s so odd/wrong about the ‘come into our store and we’ll write down your information’ is the fact that people heard about it online, printed out the coupon online, but now in order to redeem it (for a future date) you have to go into their store and not just fill it out online. I get that it’s drawing traffic to their store, but NOT in a good way. I don’t blame Oprah, but I do have to give her people some of the blame for not really thinking through all the details. They HAD to know anything Oprah endorses is going to sell and sell fast so to say, oh we thought it would be staggered is a bunch of bull. Log in to Reply pspencer618 May 9, 2009 The article didn’t say Oprah or her people thought that it would be staggered. It said: “The explanation provided for the chicken shortages is that KFC expected customer’s use of the coupons to be staggered, not all at once.” Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
