ABC Daytime Announces Memorial Day Repeats

With Memorial Day circled on all our calendars as a much needed Spring day off here's what ABC Daytime has lined up for soap fans. A day of reruns.

All My Children episode from February 16, 2009: Kendal loses control of the car while arguing with Zach, ending up on the wrong side of the road with Greenlee's motorcycle coming right at them.

One Life to Live episode from March 19, 2009: Cole, driving under the influence with Matthew, causes a horrific crash with Gigi and Shane's car.

General Hospital episode from July 7, 2008: News of Michael’s shooting quickly spreads as he’s rushed to the hospital.

Apparently Memorial Day means tragedy for ABC Daytime.

Actually, a little comedy is thrown in there too. Greenlee flying off that cliff in her dress had me in hysterics!! But yeah. ABC totally knows how to put a damper on a day. Morons.

I know Memorial Day is a time to reflect and remember but does ABC have to show all that tragedy on that day. I know that I fast forward a lot especially with GH but I know that there had to be something more upbeat to show than shootings and car accidents. Sad(

Also, wasn't Michael shot in April of last year? I remember because I was on vacation in FL that week and would watch the repeats on Soapnet at night.

It was April Ebonie because Liason was engaged for 5 seconds and than Chucky was shot

Brian Frons sure loves to torture the Liason fans

I wish ABC would do what CBS does during holidays and show classic episodes from like the 80's and 90's.

Brian Frons doesn't want to show the good episode of soaps because he know that these versions suck and Labine and Monty era would of kick Guza era any day of the week.

Even the 90-92 Monty era and Riche era was better than what is on our screens today and even they was a flop to the fans and critics.

I also wish they would show episodes from the '70s, 80s, or '90s. Two of those episdoes aired less than three months ago, so why do we need to see them again so soon. And even though it's been a long time since any soap has had real holiday episodes, I'm sure that someone could have searched and found some Memorial day episodes from the past.

I'm no expert but, I would imagine that they can't show old episodes from former decades because they would have to pay royalties to the actors and writers who no longer work on the show.

Well, they can blow 3 million on HD and Disney is worth billions of dollars, you tell me that they can't afford to air the classic soaps? Come on, I don' believe that for one bit.

Luke suffers from verbal dyslexia... can I claim that? Can't edit at the moment but thanks for the heads up.

I am glad that ABC is going to highlight a year of tragedy on each soap. Its really what I need on my day off.

Siomonstuart - my response about residuals is not about the money, it is about the time it would take to residualize all of the performers, music, and production people would not be worth the effort for a one day rerun.

However, I share your sentiment for wanting older soap reruns and wish that ABC would re-release its best soap weddings video it did in the 90's onto to DVD. I think most fans would buy a boxed set of their favorite soap scenes
