My List:

5. Phoebe Tyler - the original boozy dame of daytime

4. Amy Tyler - strong, willful and the original owner of The Boutique - she encouraged her sister Ruth to give the iconic anti-Vietnam speech in the 70's - seeing it again really makes one question the way that Pratt reacts to the current war.

3. Jenny Gardner - unlike today's ingenues, Jenny was gutsy without ever being bitchy - she was never knowingly a victim and she was always resilient when needed.

2. Tad Martin - it has been interesting to see him grow and change over time, but no woman will match up to Hilary in my book as a Tad match, she made him into a man.

1. Adam Chancellor - I still remember when he was introduced, his nephew Ross was on first and they talked and theorized about him for months - he has also grown as a character over time - although his growth has not always been linear.

Loved the podcast!

Luke, I guess I'm one of your only kindred spirits out there as a Greenlee fan (circa her first stint beginning in 1999). She was one of the best written bad girls at the time. She and Leo will always be one of my favorite couples. I hated how the reformed her into a heroine, because I always loved how snarky and selfish she was and I thought she was much more interesting that way. She could even get away with mouthing off to Bianca because her one-liners were so witty.

Anyway, I'm always cheering you on when you put her on your lists because she was awesome when she first came on and as far as I'm concerned the last few years of her destruction never happened, especially all that mess about Aidan and the Ryan being the loves of her life. Those two could never hold a candle to her and Leo. If anyone it should have been RPG's Jake that she was paired with. They would have rocked.

you know I have to admit when I have left something out I should have said in a podcast. I can't stand Greenlee most of the time but I ADORED her with Leo. In fact if we did a favorite soap couples podcast they would be right at the top of my list. So yes there have been moments where I have loved Greenlee. I've just had a hard time remembering that with all the crap that happened with Ryan. But I do agree Greenlee once upone a crime kicked ass.

It's so hard to pick juust five and figure out what order to put them in but this is what I could come come up with:

I have to agree 100% with Jamey about the need for characters like Brooke and Maria to represent the anti-Erica fans. Y&R has that formula down by making Jack the anti-Victor. Erica's best rivals were Brooke and Maria, but if they weren't coming back, Pratt-hole missed a great opportunity when he butchered the Bianca/Reese storyline. If B/R had been told slowly and carefully and with Erica (not Zach) as the one providing conflict in the story, we could have had a new rivalry build between Erica & Reese. TB can bring it. Pratt-hole deserves to be fired for chasing away ER & TB and all the great story the couple might have inspired.

And I agree with Luke about Chandlers vs. Martins. Chandlers got it all over those self-righteous Martins.

I totally forgot Skye Chandler when compiling my list. If I had rememberd her she would have been on my list and Arlene would have been bumped off.
