Lucas and Peyton Leave Tree Hill

Michael Ausiello is reporting the exclusive news at EW.com. Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) and Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton) are leaving Tree Hill behind. One Tree Hill was picked up for a seventh season without the show's two leads signed on. At that time, the rumor mill was buzzing that Murray was definitely not returning.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton, whose characters tied the knot in last night's penultimate episode, will not be returning for the show's seventh season next fall. The CW is expected to formally announce their departures next Thursday at its "upfront" presentation.

Murray and Burton have been engaged in rather high profile contract negotiations for the past several months. Ultimately, a deal couldn't be worked out and both actors will make their final appearances in next Monday's season finale.

To fill the void next season, a Tree Hill insider tells me that two new characters will be introduced. Additionally, Austin Nichols (Julian) is being promoted to a series regular.
 

Tell us what you think about a Lucas-less One Tree Hill. I love newcomer Austin Nichols but can Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Julian fill the void left by Peyton and Lucas?

I've watched OTH since the first season and heck yes Julian and Brooke can fill the void that Peyton and Lucas are leaving behind. And now Haley and Nathan will get more story also. Some people will disagree with me but I've always liked Nathan more than Lucas anyway.

I always preferred Brooke and Haley over Peyton anyway....as well as Nathan over Lucas so I don't mind....

I've also watched since Season one... I love Julian and Brooke. I like Naley also. I'm still gonna miss Lucas and Peyton. Was never a die hard Peyton fan but I do think Lucas's absence will be felt.

this show will never be the same without lucas and peyton. they lost me as a viewer.

I love Julian and Brooke and I think they could keep that show alive. I'm sad to see Peyton leave. Sad
As for Lucas ... I think the show can do pretty good without him. I enjoyed him the first three seasons. After that I didn't really care anymore. And with this season even the LP chemistry seems to be kind of gone. So nothing left there.
But Peyton is another thing. I really will miss her. Her friendship with Brooke and her love to music.

I hope the use the exit of both of them to put Nathan and Haley much more center next to Brooke and Julian.
For the last two seasons characters like Mouth, Milli or even guest/recurring stars had too much screen time in this show. And I would be really okay when Mouth and Milli would leave too. Kind of sad for Milli, but I just can't take Mouth anymore.

Oh and with Peyton gone ... they should try to bring back Rachel! I hated the writers for the way the wrote her out and told most of her drug addiction off-screen.

I never really liked Lucas, so I guess I'll be okay without the two. Especially if we get Julian as a regular, him and Brooke are awesome together.

I think the show will be weird without Lucas. No more Lucas/Nathan or Lucas/Hailey. I always loved those two dynamics. I won't miss Peyton since she was always the least favourite of mine. With Lucas leaving I guess that means no more Karen and I really like Moira Sad

Acting wise I think it's smart of them to get rid of Hilarie Burton as I feel she's gotten worse with time or I've just noticed it's just begun to bother me more.

Please no more Milli and Mouth they bore me to death.

I could only see Lucas leaving if Peyton died. Anyone know if P Sawyer is on her way out of this world?

i think that means that peyton must die next week and then lucas will be so upset that he leaves town.....i will miss these two but if they have to leave i would rather them leave happy together so it leaves it open for them to return one day

haha......you are all idiots. this show cannot go on without them and obviously you guys havent watched threw the whole thing because lucas was the main character it was all about him and nathan was a jerk to him. the show will gradually loose views and ratings because alot of people loved murray. the show will shut down i garantte you all and mouth and milli are there for a reason mouth has been there longer than brooke has. ilove all the cast but if luke and p sawyer are leaving so am i

One tree hill is all about lucas and peyton.
they both played really big parts to the show it will be different without them.
but ive been watching season 7 and i still LOVEEEEE it Smile
haley and nathans part has grown into something more amazing!
and milli is a coke head! haha
the storylines are still good enough to keep me watching Smile
