Adam and Rafe, Much Ado About Nothing?

I thought the whole thing was ridiculous, i was excited to see it play out on screen, as it sounded we would at least get a kiss. Why have gay story lines if they just sweep them under the rug, saying oh the audience doesn't have to see it. Im seriously so sick of daytime and how they treat these gay characters and stories.

Utter nonsense. Having Adam kiss Rafe would have shown just how far he's willing to go.

I think it played out exactly as it should have. Adam wasn't exactly a willing partner and we're not sure what Rafe's motives are quite yet. It wasn't exactly a romantic moment (and neither was his boink with Heather). Given that the show doesn't want the Adam/Rafe affair to develop a fan base (though it may be too late for that) and Nelson said that the show is doing a gay love story, it might explain why the show didn't go 'there'. I don't think we should storm CBS quite yet, not when they're about to begin a major gay storyline.

I loved how both scenes had Adam buttoning his shirt and his sex partner of the moment sitting on the sofa putting their clothes back on.... and the bed hadn't been mussed.

I understand Rafe and Adam's affair will continue, but I'd love it if they developed something for each other. Couples fall in love all the time under the most twisted circumstances. Why not Adam and Rafe?

I like Nu-Adam and Rafe, but obviously they are not endgame.

Rafe is so cute, he deserves a real romance.

I like the second picture that features Adam with that look: Oh! My! God! I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

Why is anyone so shocked? It's been clear from the beginning that this would not be a gay story but that of a twisted, borderline sociopath manipulating someone.

Too many gay folks pinned their hopes on Rafe and Adam as the next gay supercouple, ignoring the psychopath in the room.

I hope OLTL plays the gay story line better then this farce, i doubt the upcoming ones on Y&R will differ .. and this is Y&R i had higher expectations for them.

I think the way it was played out was great, subtle, suggestive and open to interpretation. I like what I have seen thus far, but when it comes right down to it, nothing is going to come from this. I see this part of Adam's story as a MacGuffin if nothing more. The real gay story will hopefully come about when Phillip IV comes to town and eventually be paired with Rafe. But now there's the rumor that Phillip III will come out of the closet and be paired with Rafe, which I find really hard to swallow (no pun intended!).

I really felt like they could at least include a kiss. I mean when you think of all the sugar that Bianca Montgomery has give and got on AMC since coming out, and P&G even eventually allowing a Nuke kiss on ATWT, would at least one good kiss between Rafe and Adam have killed us.

Besides, as others have pointed out, this isn't the show's 'gay' storyline. The return of Philip III is the show's gay story.

I think folks are so fixated on one thing that they're ignoring there is a fantastic story being told here.
I know I enjoyed the dark and twisted games Adam and Rafe played with one another far more than the silliness with 'lovers' Luke and Noah over at ATWT.

I think it was played perfectly. For those of your complaining about a gay storyline I want to remind you all that this wasn't a gay storyline. We know Adam is a heterosexual. He is doing something that a lot of villans have done and that is sleeping with someone to get what they need. It's a great twist and and what people need to remember is this storyline is about Adam's Revenge on Victor and Jack. Y&R has set him up to be a great villian for many years to come and it's not forced or just a plot point. It all is organic.

Yeah, they should have shown a kiss. Reading one of the live threads on a board, many people didn't realized what happened and was confused, while many others felt jipped. I know this isn't the show's "gay romance" and that's sounds like later, which isn't surprising and I'm still enjoying the story for what it is. But I'm also a bit disappointed and think, maybe the show should have did the gay romance first, as to not to have viewers get confused. And rumors of P3 and Rafe being a pair...not liking that idea at all. I like Y&R, but I'm not overly impressed in how they are handling their "gay stories". OLTL already seems to have a much better set up and starting out better, IMO.

Man I still can't believe that Y&R just had two guys have sex (even if it was off screen) and I've been waiting for an Otalia kiss for a year wth man!

If you can get over the fact that Y&R has two men invovled in this storyline, its EXACTLY what a person who is straight would do if another person of the opposite sex were on their trail. A man would seduce a woman to cover their deception and vice versa.

Breaks every rule in the book of Agnes, Douglas, Bell, and Philips. Nothing organic about that storyline. Come on now....Now that is like saying Chad and Whitney were an epic love story..lol

I was fine with the scenes. I think Rafe (and Heather) deserve better than Adam.

That being said... I really don't want Phillip III to be gay and hook up with Rafe. I want him to reunite with Nina SOFREAKINGBADLY!!!!

Rafe is a MacGuffin. I've been saying that for some time now. Look at how little we know of Rafe, he's an inconsequential care thus far. Whereas Adam has a full life, delivers soliloquies explaining his thought processes and motivations. In contrast, Rafe just pops up hither and dither to help other characters move their stories along.

Who's Rafe? So far, Rafe is tool, a writer's utensil to stir the plot or shovel dialogue.

BTW, a Rafe and P3 pairing is not my ideal connection. P4/Chance looks better on the surface if we look just

When the story first broke, it said that Adam would embark on a scandalous affair with Rafe, so think this won't be the last time, and maybe the next they'll show some skin! But people need to remember this is not a romance!
But I do agree, P3/Rafe is a big, big, big mistake in pairing!
I think I'd much rather see Rafe and a very straight Adam than that.

amcoltlry u do pay attention!!! *LOL* This isn't an epic love affair we need to be invested in, Rafe is a pawn in Adam's sick game of chess.. IMO, the show's portraying him as a man desperate to get what he wants no matter the costs. He's really Victor's son with what he's doing.

Desperate to keep their secrets in tact, Jane Smith sleeps with Joe Schmoe in order to keep him off her dirty little secret and to play upon Joe's feelings for her. In this case Jane is Adam and Joe is Rafe.

I would prefer Rafe and J.T.

Accept for it would have been known for quit some time that John Doe had feelings or something for Jane Smith. Even if they stuck in an elevator together there has always been some back story to it to link them together or to show that something could happen.
