On today's CBS and Days of Our Lives episode of Daytime Confidential Luke, Jamey, Mike, Jillian and Melodie discuss the latest in As the World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, Guiding Light and The Young and the Restless news and storylines, including:
Judi Evans joins As the World Turns, but will she be Paulina Cory as Jamey hopes? Riley reveals to Margo that he is her son. Mike has mixed feelings about Henry and Geneva. Is Guiding Light's "Killer Kreitzman" headed to Oakdale?

Hey, Michael Logan of TVGuidemagazine.com reports that Bierdz confirms (old news) that Phillip III is gay.
"THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS star Thom Bierdz comments...
“What’s going on in soaps these days is a very cool reflection of how far mainstream America has come in accepting gays and lesbians,” says Bierdz, who is openly gay now but wasn’t when he last played Phillip 20 years ago. “Being able to play gay on Y&R is the main reason I wanted to come back to the show,” he says. “Gay people are just like straight people, and that’s what I hope to show with Phillip. He’s not a cartoon, he’s not a stereotype. The guy certainly has issues. But being gay? That’s no big deal.”

What is the deal with MTS, I thought they were writing her off and yet on the podcast it says she has re-signed with the show. What gives daytime confidential? Also I am disappointed that Phillip IV is not gay and Phillip III is..pairing him with Rafe is RIDICULOUS!!! Maria and the Y&R scribes should be shot for that!

Beth said what she said. Yes I went and listened to her entire interview, it doesn't change what she said about JR. I cannot stand how these people open their mouths and show their asses, then we get dissed for having a stance on it. That's what we do. No one told Beth Ehlers to say JR wasn't an actor. No one told her to say he was keeping her from doing Shakespeare. Those words came out of her mouth. Not outs. Next time she should think before she speaks and stop blaming others for how they interpret it.

I wanted Adam and Rafe, but Phillip 3 and Rafe would be hot, LOL. Glad MTS is staying on and can't wait for the the reckling of Sharon and Ashley. Adam needs to be busted and I can't wait. Want Deacon and Phyllis together. MJ is crazy and want her to get Jack. Can't stand Nick and Sharon.
Days is good but I want Renee Jones and James R. in a s/l too. Want Sami to fight for her kids.
ATWT is horrible.
GL is a mess and P&G wanted their soaps to be canceled.
B&B is a mess. Brooke needs to free herself from the wooden one and hook up with Thorne and Whip.

What's going on with MTS? Has she resigned or not? I'm a little bit confused there... LOL
I'm okay with bringing Chance for Chloe ... but a potential pairing between Rafe and Phillip? Not a hot couple I'm looking forward to sorry. Besides the fact that Rafe would be in the age of Phillip's son ... don't know if this is the right move for the first gay storyline in the show. I know, I know ... men have affairs with much younger women all the time and so do older women with younger men these days ... but I kind of wanted a bigger hotness factor here and with two men with an age difference about twenty years ... I believe I won't feel that.
As always ... it was a great podcast.
And thanks for bringing up Nick and Bridget's ridiculous guest list for their wedding. It's strange enough that Nick's ex-wife is the brides mother and staying next to her while they say "I do" ... but having Taylor, Katie and Dollar Bill there was just too much.

Michael Logan reported she had re-signed on her own terms. Nelson Branco reported she isn;t dictating any terms. We have heard she will exit, but is expected back . They are playing these negotiations close to the vest. As far as the "own terms" business, EVERYONE at Y&R will be asked ot take cuts...

The podcast was taped last weekend. At that time, we were reacting to Logan's column. Melody will be leaving Y&R, but is expected to return. Y&R is asking everyone to take cuts. We could lose some vets if people don't accept the paycuts.

Chris Engen makes me sick! LOL He was SO GOOD. The story is ruined for me. I don't know this boy and I don't care if he has sex with Rafe. That isn't Michael's fault, but this was a terrible time for a recast. This is why actors pulling mess makes me sick! I don't care WHAT the story is, you don't have the right to do this to shows. Okay, scratch that. You have the right to do what you want, but if I was a producer I would NEVER hire an actor who quit mid-storyline for ANY reason other than some sort of personal jeopardy. I understood the actress who played Gina on Martin saying she would no longer appear in scenes with Martin Lawrence, because she claimed he threatened her, but that is the only type of situation I have sympathy for. Engen should have played out the arc then quit at the end of his contract.

Well I initially liked him and still do but I have to admit that it just wasn't the best time for a recast. I mean if he would have took over for CE when he was in jail(before the story kicked off) then that would have been better. MM doesn't really bother me and "knowing" why he replaced CE during the story I believe has made me accept him easier than normal. Like just about everyone else I didn't really start feeling CE's Adam until this storyline. MM's a good actor and I am rooting for him to succeed. I hope everyone warms up to him. Hopefully I will get to the point and be like Chris Engen who? I like MM, so far, and I know it will take people awhile to adjust to him.
