I thought that was CBS and ABC that was doing that. NBC said they were going with original programing

I'm going to get slammed for this, but......ENOUGH!!!!

I, for one am having a hard time with all the wall-to-wall MJ coverage... I could care less what ABC does tomorrow(ABC could care less what they do!) but I love my Y&R too much to want a FUNERAL/Circus Show to pre-empt Mary Jane, Kitty, Adam and My Billy.

Tuesday's episode of GH will be on later at night on ABC? IF so, what time? Or does that mean we have to watch it online or on soapnet, or that it will just skip a day and Tuesday's episode will now be Wednesday's episode?
Please help

LuvSonny, usually ABC's rule of thumb with Soapnet is that if the show is not on at its usual time, Soapnet does not run the episode that night. But if, say, GH was pre-empted halfway through for some reason, SN would show the episode since technically it was seen on ABC. So if the memorial service takes up all three hours of ABCD's airtime, SN will just show Monday's eppys again Tuesday night, and ABC will just push Tuesday's eppys to Wednesday. Boy, that sounds more complicated than it is. Hope that helps!

goyankees, I won't slam you. I want my soaps and if this had been a "normal" memorial/funeral then I would have no problems with the preemption but this carneval at the staples centre to "honor" MJ is disgusting and the only thing that will be honored is the almighty dollar

Thanks Beth, so it will give GH a day off basically...
Too bad Michael couldn't watch Friday's rerun episode, then he'd know how much Carly was there for him : )
I wish he would have overheard Carly telling Sonny that she never gave up on Michael, but he did to get over his guilt.

Oh good. I had worried this subtle little memorial service might slip under the radar.

Oh, and for the record, NBC changed its mind on Sunday and decided to cover the whole service like ABC. CBS has Katie Couric there, but hadn't decided yet whether they would go live or just save the highlights for the evening news or a prime time special.

So will new episodes still air on SoapNet that night?

AAAAAAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!! 'little memorial'. Too funny.

And I just can't get past the IOU's that Schwartzie is passing out for the Californian's, they're in SERIOUS financial crisis over there... and now the OT pay for the thousands of cops on patrol around the Staples Center...

Makes me happy to be on the East Coast.

I think the Media thinks the General Population is nuts....

i will be calling them to see if that is the case

Yes, but even IF this funeral wrapped up by One, Reverand Al will talk till 5:00.

This has just GOT to be the craziest spectacle ever. And I was an MJ fan, but also a realist.

And I hope the "millions" of people hoping to attend this gathering tomorrow aren't having problems paying their bills. There's a recession and all time low unemployment...WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON AROUND THESE PARTS!!!

I thought I was one of the few who was digusted with this. When the Beatles and Elvis left they did not do even half of the attention that this person has. They are giving this more attention than Farrah Fawcett who fought a batttle with Cancer. She deserves so much respect for her long drawn out battle. This woman was brave.

Why are they making such a big deal over this? Is there not anyother persons who have apssed on and we did not pay one iota of attention to them. Why can they not just let the Jacksons pay for all the security instead of the LA police department and the tax payers of LA.
With the way budgets are in cities now the homeless and work poor are being "downsized" in the help they get because of cuts. This just shows you who counts and who does not.

Got a question what happens to those of us who do not have SoapNet? Will it be online? Will they show on YouTube? Will the local channels have the option of showing after midnight?

ilovesoaps12,

Agree, I think that it is ridiculous for the city to pick up the tab. This is needless aggrandizement of Jackson. He was famous. He did break MTV's racist policies against black artists. But why not a family service and memorial service co-sponsored by the tour and his record company that has some kind of charity component?

As for the Jacksons, most of the family members are actually not wealthy. I read an article that explained most of the Jacksons are scraping by, having spent or lost most of their fortunes.

Ilovesoaps12,

If a show is pre-empted, it will either be shown later at night, online, soapnet, or be pushed to Wednesday.

Thanks for the answer. I may just sleep tomorrow and stay up and watch my shows that do not involve a circus performance.

Seems like the vultures who wanted to make millions off him alive, are still at it after his death.

Its all about making as much $$ off him before people forget who he was.

Insane, disgusting...and also very sad.

(Hey, if they preempt GL...does that mean we get an extra day after Sept 18? haha)

Like TV Gord said, NBC changed their mind on Sunday and decided to go live instead of the prime time special they had in place. I wonder how much weight that will have in CBS's decision. When it was just NBC and some cable networks covering live, it was one thing. But now that NBC is on board going live, will CBS want to to be left out?

Personally, I hope they don't cover it live, since I'd rather see my soaps. Besides, wouldn't they get more viewers tuning in during prime time, when most people are home from work, then in the middle of the work day?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! ARRRGH! oh, COME ON!!

Thank god I work and can ignore all this during the day. I just hope the Food Network has a good lineup tomorrow night.

I don't mean to sound disrespectful to the guy, but I've been 'over' him since "PJ's to Court".... And when those Toxicology Reports come back and half that state is up in arms over the MONEY spent tomorrow KNOWING what those reports are going to show.....man, I'm telling you... I'd hate to be a politician that has to answer to the questions. This would NEVER be happening on the East Coast. NO WAY!

No offense to any Californians, but I am just stunned at what's going on. CNN reports the financial troubles in CA, and then immediately cover Jacko Funeral News. WE ARE IN AN ECONOMIC CRISIS!!!!!!!

Just in case anyone is not clear, the soaps will be preempted on Tuesday, so they will not air on SOAPnet, either. It doesn't matter if the funeral is over by 1pm pt because it will just be starting at 1pm et, so it will be preempted across the network.

This is pathetic. I can't say I blame the networks for covering the entire mockery, because it seems there are enough viewers who can't get enough of the Michael Jackson freak show.

Personally, I plan to leave the TV off and spend some quiet time thinking about the victims of child sexual abuse.

Thank You TV Gord.. for clearing it up ..........
I think I will probably watch... But it does seem that the coverage is to much... Lets hope that when the funeral will be over .. they would let Michael Jackson rest in peace .. and let his family and his children the space they need

Goyankees, thank you, I so totally agree with you! Thank you for expressing what I've been feeling. The guy was talented but this is way over the top. The MSM is treating him as if he was a demi-god. And yes, with California going bankrupt, handing out IOU's, how can they possibly justify this expense?!?!? It scares me cause I'm sure you've heard, so goes California, so goes the rest of the country. (Used to be GM in the old days)...

My on-screen listings for today show General Hospital airing, so hopefully every left their recorders recording, as usual. The Jackson Memorial shows up in place of AMC and OLTL.

The service was great! Young and the Restless came on at 11 anyway.
