Honestly, I like Brooke, too... but I just can't bring myself to call her unselfish and thoughtful. She's got plenty of other good qualities, but not those two.
Brooke may be selfish, but Stephanie is one to talk. What is especially telling is Steph's comment that Brooke is incapable of giving a husband what he needs because she is selfish. This coming from the woman who lured Eric by insisting she was carrying his child, even though she knew deep down it might not be, who spent the first 3 years of B&B trying to hold onto Eric, and who has spent more time away from Eric than with him in the show's 22 year history.
