Susan Lucci Speaks Out On AMC's Move to L.A. With Kelly Ripa

Daytime diva Susan Lucci played guest to former All My Children alum Kelly Ripa's (Hayley) Live with Regis and Kelly, today and the hottest topic around the industry, AMC's move to Los Angeles became the subject of choice. At the 0:57 mark Lucci discusses how and when she and her fellow cast mates found out about the move and what her plans will be.

She goes on at the 3:34 mark to speak about her recent trip to Kenya for the Children, an international, non-profit relief organization, and how viewers of AMC will watch the trip be integrated into the show. Viewers will also see some of the trip as a segment, "Daytime Gives Back" on this year's  Daytime Emmy Awards airing airing Aug. 30. Even after all the mess they've pulled on La Lucci, she still is a class act. Loving Ripa repping for her girl at the 2:19 mark, say it again Kelly!

Shoutouts to ddpool for the clip!

At least she is making it sound like she's going to give it a very good thinking through either way. I would respect her if she chose not to go with the show but i feel deep down (and hope hope hope) that she will go with the show, i mean c'mon, she's Erica Kane!

Doesn't Liza Huber live out in California? That might help sway LaLucci, the prospect of being close to her daughter and grandchildren.

Did you notice how when he said something about January being 40 years for her, she laughingly said "Don't count your chickens!" Hmm. What is this saying?

Honestly, I am thinking that she is going to put serious thought into this. It doesn't seem like she is very willing. I hope she does, as she is like, the queen of daytime. But, who knows. If Fronzie runs her off, I think that'll be a long road to toe for him.

It would serve Frons right to go down in history as the pinhead who drove Lucci out of daytime TV.

Frons would take great pride in knowing he drove Lucci out of daytime television. He'll probably make sure a serial killer stripper murders Erica.

It seems obvious to me that lucci is not board for the move.Im sure plenty of the vets aren't going.

I don't think she's going either. She was quick to point out that THE SHOw is moving. I think she'll probably stay for her 40th anniversary and then leave.

Wasn't there some mention recently of TPTB wanting to put her on recurring status? If so then they could just fly her to LA every few weeks to film scenes and then fly her back to New York afterwards?

I hate to say this, because I watched AMC long before OLTL, but if Lucci leaves, AMC will become just another soap, and maybe that will put it on par with OLTL when it comes time to choose which show will be cancelled. OLTL is the better soap these days, and it should be (as this site as said, I believe) the last soap standing.

These are sad times indeed.

With all due respect this show has been dead with Lucci on it. While I think it's a possibility that her not being on the show anymore could hurt tremendously this show definitely won't make it as long as Pratt is head writer. It doesn't matter where they move.

They might save money if lucci leaves but they won't spend it wisely it would probably go to melrose rips other than say robin christopher but my thing is if amc is being kept because its a legacy soap thanks in part to lucci if they lost her would that still matter?

I think she will give it some serious thought. But, I also doubt she will move as well. I do agree with you marchpane, they could go that route. But I think that Frons wants her and other certain vets not to move. This show has been terrible in recent years with LaLucci on it, I wouldn't blame her if she says no.

Let me say, I think ABC needs to do what it can to ensure the best actors at AMC make the move --whether that is giving them more time to make the decision or different perks. Without Erica and Adam, AMC is not AMC.

However, if the network is honestly trying to find a way to save their shows (perhaps only in the short-term) and AMC, in particular, then so be it. When the factory workers in small town Ohio or Pennsylvania are told the company is relocating the business to Mexico or somewhere else, these workers are done, fired, out of a job. They are NOT given the option to move with the company. Relocation happens to the best of businesses. Most workers are not at six figure salaries. It may not be welcome news, but what Ms. Lucci (and AMC) is facing is doing her job in L.A. instead of NY and that is not the end of the world.

If MS. Lucci is being disrespected (or the others) and she does not wish to continue in the role (she has done her part for daytime and can conceivably retire in financial security), stay in NY. If she wants to continue in the role she made iconic, find a way to work in L.A.

Daytime is dying and irregardless of any ill-intensions by tiic, doors are closing, but a window has cracked open --the veteran actors should go through it.

The 40th anniversary (and hopefully they will do one) will be taped before Xmas while production is still in NY. So they will all get to participate. I'd love to see them do a whole week for the anniversary like they did for the 25th back in 1995 with tons of flashbacks.

Yeah, I doubt there would be any flashbacks from the last ten years worth showing...with the exception of Bianca coming out. The show is not the same show Agnes Nixon created.

Wow, poor Susuan certianly seemed to have to tow the party about the move to California. I'd love to see her move too, but I doubt it'll happen. Thankfully, she seemed much happier to talk about her trip to Africa.

If people like Canary and Lucci won't be making the move then it becomes even more imperative that Pratt gets the boot because AMC is going to need gripping stories and interesting characters to make up for the loss of such key players. And Pratt is clinically incapable of writing either.

All My Children without Erica, Tad, and Adam isn't All My Children.

I haven't had that "I used to watch Show XYZ with my grandma and mom" attachment with any show that has gone off.
All My Children IS the show I can say that about. I'll miss it.
I don't hold any animosity against any actor who doesn't move.
It would insane to anyway.

Love how the One Life To Live cast was supposed to go to Florida a couple of years ago and they all said "no" so it didn't happen. Would love if that happened again.

And it's become a cliche but Frons and Pratt have got to go.

I am wondering if the stars that don't go will get written off or if they will get the "Brooke English" treatment?
