The Bold and The Beautiful Soars Back to 2.5!

It appears The Bold and the Beautiful is on its way back! The cougarific soap added a whooping 209,000 total viewers for the week of July 27-31 (Source: SON). B&B went up one-tenth of a ratings point in households, nabbing a not-to-shabby 2.5.  B&B also went up one-tenth of a point among the coveted women 18 to 49 demo. B&B's older sister sudser The Young and the Restless added 2,000 total viewers over the previous week, managing to hold steady in households and among women 18-49.

The news wasn't as promising for the Procter and Gamble CBS soaps. As The World Turns lost 93,000 total viewers over the previous week, while Guiding Light dropped 76,000. Both soaps held steady in households, however GL went down one-tenth of a ratings point among women 18-49.

It was a good week for NBC's lone soap Days of Our Lives. DAYS saw an increase of 205,000 total viewers over the previous week. The sudser went up one-tenth of a ratings point in households and held steady among women 18 to 49.

Over at the Mouse House, General Hospital lost 106,000 viewers over the previous week. GH went down one-tenth of a ratings point in households and among women 18-49. ABC's Little Soap That Should Be On Top, One Life to Live added 14,000 total viewers over the previous week. OLTL went up one-tenth of a ratings point in households (OLTL is tied with DAYS and GH for third place) and held steady among women 18-49. All My Children lost 59,000 total viewers over the previous week, dropping one-tenth of a ratings point in households. AMC did manage to go up one-tenth of a ratings point among women 18-49.

I don't watch B&B anymore but it sounds like it is doing a little better i might check it out since Ric H is back just because i love him..I would love for ATWTS to succeed but it looks like it is going by way of GL which is very sad to me. I am loving OLTL and Days right now and i hope that when Vivian and Carly return that Days gets better.I still love YnR but it is kind of getting on my nerves right now i am not liking the Adam/Ashley or the Shick /Phick s/l's.I could care less about Gh and AMC are Guza, Chuck and Fronzie friends because their shows SUCK and until they go those shows will continue to SUCK and no move to LA is going to change that.

B&B has gotten much better since it started to focus on the Jackie M gang and back burnered Rick.

All hail Jackie M!

I happy for all the soaps that went up we need as many viewers as possible during these times. I think its stupid that TPTB mostly go by the 18-49 viewers though if you thought about it that way Days is number 6 in that category but number 3 overall if I were TPTB I would count every single viewer possible and start appealing to groups that arent catered to as much in other areas of television like AMC did at first with Bianca and now many other soaps have as well but it needs to be written well, anyway good for all the soaps that went down i'm sad for GL though I really wish it would go up since they are bringing back some veteran characters to the show.

I noticed that the largest group of people watching a specific soap are MEN! Y&R is raking in 1,182,000 men 18 plus in ratings where as women 18 to 49 is 1,101,000. Maybe someone should take note of this? That is nearly 25 percent of the viewing audience. It is also more than half of the ratings for some soaps. Perhaps soap operas should take note of this and adress it!
