All Eight Soaps Shed Total Viewers; All My Children Only Soap Up in Households

All of the daytime soaps lost viewers over the week of Aug. 3-7, 2009. (Source: SON) NBC's Days of Our Lives lost the most total viewers, dropping 273,000 Salem lovers over the previous week. DAYS went down one-tenth of a ratings point in households (tying it's all-time low in that demo) and among women 18-49. DAYS, however is up 51,000 viewers year-to-date.

CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless dropped 235,000 total viewers over the week. Y&R went down two-tenths of a rating point in households (tying its lowest rating ever) and dropped one-tenth among women 18-49. The Bold and the Beautiful lost 104,000 viewers over the previous week. B&B went down one-tenth of a point in households and among women 18-49. As The World Turns dropped 58,000 total viewers, dropping one-tenth of a point in households (tying it's all-time low rating) and one-tenth of a point among women 18-49. Guiding Light lost the least amount of viewers for the week, shedding just 8,000 total viewers. GL head steady in households and among women 18-49.

Over at ABC, General Hospital lost 158,000 total viewers over the previous week. GH held steady in households and among women 18-49. One Life to Live lost 98,000 total viewers for the week of Aug. 3-7. OLTL held steady in households, but dropped one-tenth of a ratings point among women 18-49. All My Children lost 14,000 total viewers for the week. The LA-bound sudser was the only soap to go up in households, rising one-tenth of a ratings point. AMC held steady among women 18-49. All three Mouse House sudsers are tied for third place.
