The View Hosts Will Accept Emmy on Season Premiere

Word at the ABC mothership is that mostly everyone involved with The View was thunderstruck when Whoopi, Babs, Elisabeth, Joy and Sherri actually managed to win the Emmy last night for their daily hostessing duties. Folks at the Network were rather riled up when the show failed to get a nomination for “Outstanding Talk Show” (I mean, really? The butternut squash that is Rachael Ray is better???) after a stellar political season. So, assuming they’d lose YET AGAIN, none of the ladies of daytime’s most infamous round-table bothered making the trip to L.A. for this year’s downmarket, bargain-basement Emmy broadcast.

But never ones to shy away from a little publicity, they’re going to be accepting their Emmy and giving a “speech” when they return from Summer break next Tuesday, September 8th. The only thing we can hope is that they all wear beautiful Emmy gowns for the entire broadcast. No one sparkles more than Babs Walters in a floor-length sequin frock and kitten heels.

Do you think it was tacky for them not to have attended? I mean, they could have just sent upcoming guest co-host Kathy Griffin as a surrogate for the team, Sasheen-Littlefeather-style. You know Kathy would have used the podium to generate some headlines.

Their cattiness about not showing up just because they thought they were not going to win just proves that they should not have won! What a pathetic bunch of women! It's rude to their fans and it's rude to the other hosts/shows for not showing up just 'cuz they thought they would not win...I'm done with their crap...I was a fan...but no longer! And as for them "accepting" the award on their premiere...it's all about ratings...I just hope this is the "Jump the Shark" moment for those selfish ladies!

I agree They bad mouthed the daytime emmys all the time. They may think it comes off as a joke but it doesnt, Its insulting to the whole genre. Well I should say only Babs, Joy & Elizabeth do that. Whoopi & Sherri havent to my knowledge. Im happy that Whoopi and Sherri have a trophy, Hopefulkly one of them will give the speech, because if one of the other three does it I wont believe a word out of their mouths.

It may come across as caddy, but it is ironic though that the one year they don't go is the year they won. I am just saying.

Oh come on, why should they drag themselves to Los Angeles during their hiatus, probably on their own dime, just so they can go home, once again empty-handed? Let's face it, they are long-time losers in this category, and if they are catty, it's just because they are trying to be funny about the fact that they've never won. In twelve years of eligibility.

And come on now, even with a spectacular year, they've always maintained the one reason they've never won is that with five hosts, the judges would inevitably vote for another nominee because they didn't like one of them. And could you think of a better year to hate Elisabeth?

Oh for heaven's sake, it's "catty", not "caddy". God, the illiteracy rate in this society is downright depressing.

I had to take the opportunity to add that. Since everyone seems to have a bug up their butt today, I thought I'd throw in a little pet peeve of my own. Wink

Wow I didnt think it really mattered how people wrote on message boards, I know i'm not the best at writing or proper grammer but I do try and when others don't I just read their post and move on but anyway back on topic I'm not blaming them for not showing up actors do it all the time but it sucks for them because they might never win again.

TV Gord,

Between you and I, irregardless of what others say, us soap fans no how important grammar is then not knowing it. Being that there is nothing more important then writing good, we had ought to insure our fellow posters to adhere to a higher standard of writing.

If I was any more disappointed at the sorry state of writing on blogs, I'd scream. Its shameful how people poorly interface with each other. You would think us terrible and pitiful and ignorant people who lack commonsense and the ability to know how to put to or three or four or five words together to form a sentence!

I feel badly about the decline of the american education system. To wretchedly split our great democracy into a land of unliterates and literates is the work of intellectually lazy people who lack the grasp on the importance of nuculear family and it's ability to teach and encourage mastery of our official national language, english.

O.K. Can you spot the misspelled words and grammatical errors???

Wow, it must be a slow day if people are fighting over grammer. Shit, I've been known to mess up a few times, we are only human. Christ.

Now, I knew with Whoopi on they would win an Emmy. They don't deserve it for sure. What did they submit, the McCain interview? I'm surprised they didn't submit the Obama interview were they were making googoo eyes at him, touching his arms and hands and saying how good looking he was over and over. Wow, they are emmy winners. Well, that bitch Joy doesn't deserve one for sure.

The bottom line is they were on vacation & didn't care to go...someone should have been there...with the exception of Elisabeth...they didn't deserve to win and I'm supposed to feel bad because they had to maybe go on "their own dime"...I've no doubt they all could have afforded the trip...they are just too high on their own pedestal to get down!!

Yes, they deserved to win. They are the most informative talk show on TV concerning current events. And last year with the election, they were phenominal!! It's about time.

Some of these other nominees should take their names out like Oprah, Martha Stewart, etc. I am so happy for them!!

I don't blame them for not showing up after 12 years of losing. Would you cancel your vacation?

TV Gord,

Have you ever considered that some of the posters are perhaps from other countries and thus, English may not be their first language?

In my case, I am on heavy medication for Fibromyalgia and on occassion mix up sound alike words (ie: no and Know) I understand the difference between the two words, but the medicine interferes with my memory when typing quickly. Some individuals have dyslexia. What you are seeing could be a product of some sort of disability.

Sometimes its simply a typo.

IMHO what matters is the insightfullness of the post, not its grammatical accuracy. I would hate to think that someone might shy away from joining in a discussion because their spelling wasn't up to snuff.

Couldn't the author of this piece have made his point with making a dig at Rachael Ray's show (or anyone/anything else)?
