Justin Deas "I Think Ellen Wheeler is Out of Her F---ing Mind"

I'm pretty sure the title says it all for this one! Be sure to check out the full Justin Deas' Interview with Michael Logan.

Were you surprised to end your GL run by getting married?
Deas:
I think [executive producer] Ellen Wheeler is out of her f---ing mind to give Buzz another wedding. But I adore working with Tina Sloan [Buzz’s new wife Lillian]. That lady is connected! Just name anybody, a famous anything, pick a NASA astronaut, and she just had dinner with him. You talk to her about a great book you’re reading? She’ll say, “Would you like to meet the author?” You’re going to Sweden? She knows the king! I just mentioned to her that I might get a hip replacement—I think the hip will probably be arriving on the set here sometime this afternoon.

It's obvious he's being sarcastic but part of me believes he's being completely real. Either way, Justin Deas is my new Hero!

Justin Deas is a great actor. I don't care what others say about him. And when he speaks, he puts lots of thought into it. He may of meant Ellen is out of her f^^cking mind, but used the line as a double entondra.

I think most viewers don't care too much if Buzz and Lillian get married. I think most viewers are settled in past moments rather than present ones. The show is just running out its course.

I've always enjoyed Justin's work. I remember watching him as Keith on Santa Barabara. He was great then and was just as great on GL.

I wish him and his family the best. (I noticed Deas limping on GL today. Guess he does need a hip replacement.)

"I mean, we in America still haven’t gotten over our sex hang-ups! The lesbians on our show can’t kiss? What’s wrong with us? There’s a greater chance that GL would have brought in a donkey for Buzz to have sex with."

HAHAHAHA PREACH IT JUSTIN!!!!!!!! Smile

how about the comment he made about the name Buzz? lol "who gives a shit" lol I thought that was funny. Justin Deas just defines the term "actor". He embodies it, does his work and calls it a day. I always become perplexed by those types that view their art as a paycheck. Bravo to Justin for his work on that show though! God Bless him.

Well he has it right.
Everyone was thinking so, but to keep their job, did not said it.

Now that the show is over, the truth can get out.

Loved that guy in anything he played!

I love how he isn't sucking up and begging for a job. I now see why he has been so reluctant about giving interviews, too bad cause I think he is hilarious

Look GL is has been going down for 15 years; first the killed of Maureen, even the writers said shouldn't have done that, then the way the treated Roger-Michael Zalow, then there was the O.J. trail. That hert all the soaps. People got into other programs, cable just got more audience. Soaps will be dead in 5 years our soo. When B&B won for best soap that about did it for soaps. Is just me that B&B is a horrable soap with it's over acting and plastic barbie women.

IF he cared nothing about the Emmys, why did he continue to submit his name? Why didn't he remove his name so that those that did take it seriously and did care could have his slot? It's always amusing to me that these people who care nothing about the awards never take themselves out of consideration. They only complain AFTER they've won. I suppose it could have been worse. He could have sent a Mexican woman pretending to be an Indian woman to pick up his award.

Maybe he got older and just got over the Emmys who knows.

Katiebug, Deas has always had that attitude about the Emmys. I find the attitude obnoxious because these people never remove their names. His six Emmys could have gone to people who actually wanted them. I'm sure Brad Maule would have appreciated Deas removing his name.

True, I hate that also I call it the Tony Geary effect after so many years and wins some people need to take themselves out of the running especially if the claim not to care. I think its because deep down they do care, they care a lot they just want so seem like "oh I don't care about those" its the same thing when people say "oh I didn't know the nominations were today" I call bull on that to you know they were sitting by the tv or phone waiting to hear if they got nominated or not.

cmleidi. I agree with you about the emmys. I can't stand when actors talk about how silly the awards are. I don'ty buy it and like you said, he could've easily not submitted

Buzzzzzzzzzz was one of my least favorite GL characters...It wasn't because of Justin Deas...The character was grating or boring at times (writers fault). Anyway, my favorite Justin Deas performance was when he either acted with Deenie (Nadine) or when he was "Papa Bauer" during GL's 70th anniversary tribute. He is a great actor.

Justin did take his name out of the Emmys a few years ago. I believe the last year he was in it was 2005. I remember I thought he should of gotten something for 2006 and maybe even for 2007. I think the only time he didn't win was for 2005. It's not like he was nominated every year over his career, which spanned 35 years in daytime (7 out of 35 isn't every year). Tony Geary never took his name out.

I think ALOT of actors don't care about them, hence actors just voting for their favorites and not watching tapes. It's just a time to get dressed up and socialize. I don't think JD really does much of that from what I gather, so maybe he has no incentive to see the Emmys exist. I highly doubt it jump starts careers. I don't think they have much validity (anymore?). Yeah, Jennifer Fennigan got two shows pretty quick, but that's probably because she's actually good and dare I say proficient at grasping a role.

I never watched Santa Barbara so I can't comment on that, but I think Justin did his best work, that I saw, on ATWT. That's where I fell in love with him.

I just hope that after Friday, all the GL actors come out and spill their guts about the show.

I've had a grudge against him because Ellen Parker was fired to pay for his salary. I refused to watch any scenes with Buzz. I stuck to my word as I stopped watching in 2005, and I watched only a handful of his scenes. It sounds silly, but I did.

Protesting a character won't help. In fact, it will probably make TPTB use that character more. So, the Justin Deas haters for Ellen Parker getting fired club probably kept him on the show (or was that his acting and the writing for the character...?). The same can be said for Bradley Cole. Maureen Garrett and Peter Simon and someone else I think were fired or put on recurring for his salary. His all out haters probably have kept him employed until now. I tried not hating his character, but rather just tell it as it is. God knows fans don't help. A fan's devotion will always be second fiddle to creating a spark in the ratings. Was Grant Alexander fired for Cole? MADD loved Cole. I know that. He wasn't a dying villain. I guess that's what KZ liked too.

I love Justin Deas. At least he's speaking out for against Ellen Wheeler, even if it's after the fact.
