DC #459: ABC Keep Your Bloomers On Girl

I think the Viki/Dorian mayor battle is a missed opportunity to invole the viewers. DAYS has viewers vote on who was Hope's baby-daddy years ago: John or Stefano (it actually turned out to be Bo's-but i voted!)

Viewers should get to cast a ballot in the Dorian/Viki race. They could do it on facebook or twitter, or at OLTL on ABC.com. The more you get people involved, the more they'll tune in to see the outcome. Who's their PR/Marketing person. He/She should be fired.

You are so right! "Lucky Santangelo" was a great character. Now she would have been a great template for Claudia instead of whatever shrill sociopath on whom they based Claudia.

Great podcast. OLTL is the best soap on air. More people need to watch.

The Kyle/Fish story is great and loved all the scenes last week. From the coming out to Kyle and Nick making out by the bed. ATWT needs to step up their game with Nuke...big time. I loved the little Y&R rant. I was one viewer who wanted to see that Rafe & Adam kiss and saw a potentially great pairing, had they gone their, said it didn't fit what Y&R wanted. What has them gotten them? Lower ratings and two botched stories with gay characters.

Jamey,I agree with you as usual. The whole Nik/Rebecca/Liz/Lucky stuff is ridiculous and plot driven as usual.
The Nik/Liz garbadge that is being shown is clearly happening for 2 reasons:
1) Nik/ Rebecca was a bust so they are trying to garner sympathy for the couple by having Nik/ Liz become horrible people by sleeping together even though they did not show the slightest bit of interest in each other up until a couple of months ago. They will do this and either bring back Emily and have you route for them to get together and evil Liz will slink off to the backburner or something.
2) JASAM- I dont care if I get bashed for this but the Nik/Liz story is partially being done to destroy the Liz character and by extention the Liason connection. It is not a coincidence that Liz was on the backburner for most of the year and then just around the time that Jasam sleep together all of a sudden Nik and Liz are obsessed with each other. All of a sudden after virtually never mentioning Jake or Liz this year Jason is all of a sudden talking about how Nik/Liz being together would ruin his sons life. It is so obvious what Guza and Frons are trying to do, and I'm not falling for it. Most people that I talk about the show still cant tell me if Liz and Lucky have been together for most of this year or if they have been friends in 2009. It went from yes to no to were taking it slow, to Lucky making a play for Rebecca, to Liz and Lucky just being friends, and for a while no one was sure if they were a couple or not, I dont even think the actors knew what was going on lol.
Now after Jake gets hurt he is proposing to her, it is so clear what they are doing. I have seen Guza do it long enough now to spot it and this is why the show will never be good until he is fired.

Dante is awesome. It just needs to be said over and over again. Im sure he will be destroyed sooner or later but I'll enjoy the character and the actor for the time being.

Frons-n-Guzasuck...You're right on point with N**, Liz wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole! She has never been interested in Nik and wouldn't destroy his relationship with Lucky... It's lame because I always liked Liz/Nik friendship. It was more believable for Lucky/Rebbecca/Nik and then she turns out to be Emily next year, or she dies...again.

I can't watch Rex/Gigi anymore. Stacey is a character that you love to hate. Thank God they brought her friend on because that did something to the character. I still don't get this total obession with Rex, but at least now I feel like she isn't a five year old that missed her nap. Rex/Gigi are the five year olds now...especially Rex.

The commentary on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, which really is the best soap on right now, is spot on, and I'm very glad that Scott Evans, Tika Sumpter and David Fumero are getting the kudos they deserve. These are very talented actors, and especially with Fumero - he's proof positive that given the right material, he absolutely shines.

Thanks for also calling out Maria Arena Bell on the nonsense with YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS's Adam and Rafe, which was just a disaster all around.

Thanks also to Belinda for pointing out that despite posters' claims on various forums, George and Barbara Fish are not mere cartoonish stereotypes. I know several Mr. and Mrs. Fish in real life as well and they're not from the Midwest either.

David Fumero and Tika Sumpter are one of my new favorite One Life couples. Both actors have been shining since the KISH story took off.

Kudos to Chris, who has been an actual advocate for Fish and a really good friend. How unusual to have the most macho guy on the show, be so understanding and thoughtful.

This is Fumero's best work, and a welcome relief from some of the other nonsense they stuck him with since his return. I love the chemistry between him and Tika.

Bo and David today were outstanding, I am loving the airtime being given to Bo lately. I guess they finally realized how wonderful Robert Woods can be when given decent material.

Great podcast as always, guys, great to hear from Belinda again, it's been too long. I am totally with you guys, as far as GH is concern. With Claudia and the whole Nik/Liz/Rebecca/Lucky mess. AMC well you guys said it all it is beyond stupid. You think that the new MP will ask Pratt and Jamie Luner back. I have also felt that Gigi would be better with Schyler. Jeff Branson would be great as Joey, now that Gina T. is coming back as Kelly.

How many orgasims did you guys have while talking about OLTL on this podcast? You guys blow your load over that show in every podcast, even the CBS podcast. You guys even went nuts for it on the special podcast for GL. I watch OLTL, it's not the best soap on air for me, no matter how many people say it is. But good lord, that mob storyline was a joke. Russian mobsters afraid of some teenagers, ugh.

I agree with you guys on AMC. I don't completely agree with you guys on GH, especialy about how good Liason was, ew. I just hope Lucky gets back at both Liz and Nik and tells them he's better of without them. I really want Lucky to win for once.

OLTL is the best soap on daytime. My friend has listened to me rave about it for so long that she decided to start watching. She started watching the week that the whole mob/drug story kicked into high gear. She picked a great week to start, and now calls me every day to talk about what happened on OLTL. I look forward to OLTL each day, and hope that more people start watching it.

GH used to be my favorite but it is truly lacking these days. I agree with you guys about Claudia and the way the character was written. I do not like what they are doing to Liz either. Liz has never been perfect, but for the most part she was good. They killed Emily and Georgie who were good female characters. They almost ruined Lulu with Logan. She is just now starting to be likable again. Alexis was on the backburner after her cancer story. She only came on screen to support Sam or Jerry. At least she has scenes with Molly and Kristina now. Robin was almost ruined with the whole PPD story, which was written horribly. Now they want to take Liz and put her in this ridiculous story. I do not understand ruining popular characters by writing them to do terrible things that the fans do not like. If you have developed popular characters then why intentionally destroy them? It really makes no sense to me.

OLTL...I am so glad you all mentioned the reaction of the Evans family to the Shaun news of him being in a coma. I definitely thought it was WAY over the top by Destiny and Greg. Kind of took away from the moment. As far as Rachel I like her and Greg. That Shaun is a hot mess at best. He CAN'T act at all! Hopefully he stays in a coma for awhile. I think I am going to like this Viki/Dorian mayoral race. I think it will be good. I like this rivalry that they have.

Not to beat a dead horse (or wave the red flag), Liason fans have already been disappointed ( and heartbroken I may add). If we got over the way Elizabeth's and Jason's story was not written in the first place and then butchered in sacrifice on the altar of characters I will not name, then we fans will see the character Elizabeth through this Elizabeth/ Nicholas debacle. I agree that this story is meant to discredit Elizabeth and BH popularity.

I further agree that it is a great story for TC but a awful story for RH.

Farewell Claudia, nearly 2 years after she came into town during the writer's strike, and truly GH missed the boat to having Claudia add to the canvas.

Finally, I tuned into OLTL this week on the advice of many here at DC. I had watched probably 15 years ago and while I cannot figure out all the stories, I am interested and find that I am not fast forwarding through the show.
