HomeTVGeneral HospitalGH Stars Tweet About Greg Vaughan Regan Cellura September 29, 2009 32 Comments After the news of Greg Vaughan‘s departure from General Hospital hit the web, some of his now former castmates took to their Twitters. Steve Burton: God bless Greg V and his family. Sucks! He will be missed. Tyler Christopher: Everyone give GV your blessings please. He gave Lucky justice while he was there. Derk Cheetwood: Our thoughts are with Greg V and family he will be missed by all. Nancy Lee Grahn: Heartbroken about Greg. However, this is a guy who worked constantly before GH & will continue to do the same after GH. He is an amazing gentleman, a dedicated father, a committed and talented actor who is loved and adored by his cast. He will be fine! Sarah Brown: I’m so sad & sorry to hear this. I know you’re going to do great wherever you go. My love to you and your family always Brandon Barash: deeply saddened by this news. Not gonna be the same w/o u next door. ur star will shine wherever it lands. Lisa LoCicero: Greg, you’ll do great wherever you go.. But I will miss your smiling face terribly GH Writer Michele ValJean: So sorry. But I have every confidence you’ll do just fine.Best of luck going forward (and that’s what life’s about).Much love. Photo by PR Photos 32 Responses BigDede September 29, 2009 He’s been on the show for like 5 years. I know it has to be hard. But like the sweet NLG said, he’s been working before GH and he will work afterward. Imo,all he has to do is get an acting coach to help him fine tune his skills so he can compete in primetime. He could be the next former GH star to get their own primetime show. Or he can go to cable and be on a show. He’s too beautiful not to get another job. I remember him being on Charmed then going straight to Y&R then to GH. Once he auditions, he will be working asap. Log in to Reply disillusioned GH fan September 29, 2009 Some characters should not be replaced once they leave. When they replaced Jonathan Jackson, there was just no way to recapture the magic he brought to that part and the chemistry he had w/ his onscreen parents and w/ Rebecca Herbst! It would be like replacing Luke or Laura w/ second and third cycle actors. Nicholas wasn’t even Nicholas when Tyler wasn’t in the role, sometimes it just doesn’t work. What I find amusing is the fact that they can recast NotEmily as someone else, they can bring the original Carly back as Claudia, but they can’t find a use for a good actor who was given bad writing while they hacked the believability of this character to shreds! It’s not GV’s fault, it’s the writers at GH who made it impossible. My concern at this point, is that the character of Lucky is so far removed from who he should be, how will JJ even be able to clean that up and make it plausible?!? He has a tough job ahead of him and I tend to wonder of anyone- including him can turn this around! Log in to Reply josser September 29, 2009 BigDede, Nope. It’s not that simple. There are very few spots for actors and a large pool of them wanting those jobs. Why do you think Jonathan Jackson is scampering back to GH? Jackson is immensely talented but he never caught fire in Hollywood. We keep hearing the same thing about soaps demanding pay cuts and soaps being canceled. It’s a brutal job market for actors (even more so than for regular folks). My best wishes to Greg V and his family. Log in to Reply GH LOVER September 29, 2009 I know that Greg will be amazing at everything he does but still it is a bad way to end things I loved how everyone on tweeter said nice things about him that was really nice … as Steve said it is really sucks Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 September 29, 2009 Greg is a great actor and he will get work, but I think that even he is kind of scare in this economy where jobs are limited. But I am hoping he lands on his feet soon and we get to see him back on a soap or maybe tv or film. He will be a big star. Log in to Reply KayleeT September 29, 2009 They never gave him a shot at a “real” story line after the Maxie/Drug Use one….I think he as an actor will be much better off Log in to Reply DynamiteKiddo September 29, 2009 Ya, don’t say this usually, but ICAM with Steve Burton! This is sucky, disheartening news. Greg’s an outstanding guy and GH is f-ed up for what they did to a loyal actor who had every intention of enthusiastically committing to this show for years to come. Such a shame. Glad to see so many supporting him, he was a real team player and he’ll obviously be missed. Hope he finds work ASAP. As for Jonathan Jackson, hopefully he’s worth it, ABC. Thought being bitten in the ass with the Greenlee disaster would’ve put a few things into perspective for Frons, guess not. Thanks for six-and-a-half great years, Greg! Log in to Reply ladyofthelake September 29, 2009 This sucks. I feel really bad for GV. I just can’t believe JJ is coming back unless I see him on my screen as Lucky on GH. I have said numerous times that when Ethan came on and became a Spencer, that Lucky’s and GV’s days were numbered. It sucks. I’m not excited about JJ anymore. Log in to Reply Dinah September 29, 2009 When in hell going be LLC and Frons?? Log in to Reply Dax September 29, 2009 disillusioned GH fan, I agree with you 100% about how different Lucky has become since Vaughn took over the role. I became hooked on GH during the days of Katherine Bell sparing with Lucy Coe, Brenda/Jax/Sonny, Sarah Brown’s arrival as Carly, Robin’s HIV diagnosis, Stone’s death, Felicia and Mac, L&B, Simone/Justus/Tom, Mary Mae Ward, when the quatermaines were THE QUARTERMAINES, and, notably, when Jonathan Jackson portrayed Lucky, who was the antithesis of every other young, male lead on daytime. Lucky was sensitive, caring, inspiring, — an artist — truly a modern romantic, almost bohemian. There is a disconnect. It will be interesting to see how and if the portrayals will be meshed. I remember I attempted to watch GH a few years back and was shocked Lucky was holding a gun. I couldn’t watch. I haven’t been a faithful GH viewer in years. But, I will tune in to see Jackson’s return. Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 September 29, 2009 I am saddened by Greg’s firing because he did the best with shoddy material, but JJ is Lucky to a lot of fans and him and RH have great chemistry and GH is doing everything they can go bring ratings up and JJ, RH, and TC triangle hopefully will boost sagging GH ratings and I hope that they bring back Genie Francis back because she is needed on the canvas also. GV will be fine and I hope that Days will pick him up. Log in to Reply LuvSonny September 29, 2009 I used to hear that JJ was unhappy with the direction they took Lucky in after he left, so I’m wondering if that means Lucky’s character will be different once JJ comes back, or if they will continue him on with the storyline they had for GV. It’s a shame that GV was excited about his new storyline which sounded, from what he said, like it would be about Lucky getting back at Liz. I want a JJ/Lucky and Liz pairing so unless they change the storyline, I will be disappointed. Hopefully JJ’s return will mean the end of Ethan! Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 September 29, 2009 I think that the Nik will go to the dark side and Lucky and Liz will try to do everything to bring the good side back. I hope that they focus on the Cassisdine and leave the mob mess alone. Log in to Reply terrifictam September 29, 2009 This breaks my heart I’m a huge GV fan. The writing didn’t allow his talents to shine. I really hope he finds work soon. Not suprising that so many cast members are voicing their saddness. Greg seems to be the genuine “nice guy”. He’ll be missed. Log in to Reply BigDede September 29, 2009 I hope this show fades from the mob and really spotlight the Cassadines and Spencers. If Nik does go dark, it would be great to see Liz/Lucky try to bring him back. Or he can go so dark because he can’t have Liz and Lucky is forced to chose between his love for Liz or getting his brother back from the dark side. As I’m writing this, this sounds like a Star Wars plot. Log in to Reply sweetiepie September 29, 2009 I totally agree that Greg Vaughn got the short end of the stick, both in the material he was given, and the way he has been let go. It sucks. Personally, I can’t stand Ethan, so this really sticks in my gut. Also, though Jonathan Jackson was a fan favorite, can he recapture teh magic between he and Rebecca that they had back in the day? They were comepletely believeable as puppy lovers, but two kids and multiple lovers later, Rebeccas’ Elizabeth has grown and matured. How will we percieve her chem with Jonathan’s Lucky? I guess we will have to wait and see, but it does not bode well for me. At the very least, I can see that GH is at least trying to give us what we want. They are trying to put the couples that worked back together again, Liz and Lucky, JaSam, Nik and Embecca( Although I could not stand NEM anymore than I can stomach NemBecca) and it also seems that the major mob storyline is coming to ahead soon, so maybe they will Tone down the mob. Log in to Reply Jamey Giddens September 29, 2009 There is no comparing this to the Real Campaign. Rebecca Budig was moderately popular (Sorry, Luke), while Jonathan set the daytime landscape on fire, winning three Emmys and becoming part of one of the most popular young adult pairings in the genre’s history. Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 September 29, 2009 I can’t believe that Jason is smiling and having fun with Sam. I like this Jason more than dark and brooding Jason. Log in to Reply GH LOVER September 29, 2009 Now they will have Carly and Sonny together ?? And bring Brenda back for Jax ???? I do love JaSam and i love Jason the smiling and happy … about JJ he was young when he did lucky with Liz and both RH and JJ grow since than can they bring the magic back ??? Log in to Reply BigDede September 29, 2009 I think JJ and RH can still have the same chemistry. It’s not like what they did to SJB who came on as a completely different character. She no longer had that chemistry with MB or SB. But JJ is still playing the same character just older so I don’t see why they wouldn’t have the same chemistry. Log in to Reply siomonstuart2003 September 29, 2009 I feel you, dynamitekiddo, but if tiic can’t write for GV’s talents, I say let him go and bring back JJ if they going to write the character right this time and not the town’s idiot anymore. Log in to Reply rebecca September 29, 2009 |( This SUCKS! Yes i did watch the show when JJ was on it as Lucky and he was good but i LIKE Greg Vaughn better! Log in to Reply Regan Cellura September 29, 2009 More TWEETS… Hubby to Rebecca Herbst, Michael Saucedo: I was sad to hear about Greg. He is a good guy. Speaking from personal experience, I know how he feels. More from Derk Cheetwood: What I meant was GV will be missed by the whole cast but no doubt he will land on another show in no time, he’s to talented not to work. Log in to Reply Danielle September 29, 2009 Wow! I stopped watching on January 13th, I tune in today just to see what’s up and they are still on the same stories they were on 8 1/2 mos ago except Maxie & Spinelli finally are together. I saw some Lulu/Matt thing going on, Morgan, Molly and Kristina are suddenly older and look nothing like their parents, except Molly a little like Ric. Connie/Olivia just not saw that Dominic is really is Dante! Sonny and Claudia are still together and stringing each other along, Nic still has the same black shirt on and drinking the same drink, Coleman is sporting his sexy 70′s blue shirt, Mac and Patrick get drunk! Way to stay consistant GH I love a mess!!!!! As for JJ coming back sooner or later you know he would be seen again. All the other Lucky’s good and not good were doomed from day one anyway. See you in another 8 mos!!!! Log in to Reply JaSamLover September 29, 2009 It really is so horrible for him, but one of the positive things we can hold onto is that he will not find trouble getting work. The man is ridiculously gorgeous. And honestly, he deserves better than GH. They treated him poorly anyways. Log in to Reply diallo41 September 29, 2009 Oh wow…not sure how I feel about this. Luv JJ, but I luv GV too… :(( i do hope this is worth it and the writing improves for Lucky otherwise it would all be for naught… Log in to Reply GossipGirl September 30, 2009 Wow, it feels like the guy died or something. Log in to Reply curacaoman September 30, 2009 I disagree, JJ is also coming back as a totally different character. Today’s Lucky is not his Lucky! Log in to Reply wjhboy73 September 30, 2009 It all comes down to the writing. The writing hasn’t been there for Lucky in years. I have a feeling that we’ll have Lucky Spencer in the mob now. Will someone please tell me why Sri Rao isn’t the head writer of GH. This show has just sucked for SOOOO LONG. Log in to Reply curacaoman September 30, 2009 wjhboy73, you are so right! We want Sri Rao! Then we can look at actors and characters. Log in to Reply DynamiteKiddo September 29, 2009 Ya, it’s worse; Sabine Singh played Greenlee for less than a year, Greg Vaughn’s played Lucky for almost seven. Rebecca Budig was an AMC star in her own right, the show centered around her and Kendall for years. And that was all contemporary. It’s been a decade since Jonathan Jackson’s been involved in daytime; it’s a different climate now and he played the role when Lucky was less adult than his younger sister, Lulu is now. We’ll see how he fits with Lucky’s current establishment. All I know is that we had a loyal, talented actor who was willing to uphold a commitment to this show; now we have stunt casting that could completely blow up in our faces. Real shame for Greg Vaughn. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
