CONFIRMED: Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Return for All My Children's 40th Anniversary!

Who says you can't go home again? A-list soap alums Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are returning to their alma mater, All My Children, for the sudser's 40th anniversary. Ripa, who shot to fame as Adam Chandler's (David Canary) cutie patootie long-lost daughter Hayley Vaughan, opposite Consuelos as Maria's (Eva La Rue) kid brother Mateo Santos, announced the return engagements on her daytime talk show, Live With Regis and Kelly today. This news will come as no surprise for those of you who listen to Daytime Confidential's ABC podcast (DC: 460), as our guest co-host David Ozanich teased it a few weeks back. AMC's 40th anniversary will air Jan. 5.

I wonder if Pratt even knows who Haley and Mateo are? He probably thinks they're lesbians. Somebody better fill him in quick before he has Mateo show up pregnant with Ryan's child. More than likely Pratt will have Haley return only to suffer some type of head wound, debilitating blindness or just to die violently.

I am glad that they are going back to the show for the anniversary but I doubt this will lead to a better show. AMC is sinking and sinking fast due to crappy, nonsense writing. The networks need to 1)Fix the shows by getting rid of the idiots writers, producers, and the Frons/Bloom in charge and replacing them with new blood and I mean NEW BLOOD. Someone who loves this industry and has not worked in this industry but knows the shows from the back of their hand or are willing the learn their history, 2) place the shows on one of their cable networks (b/c ABC, NBC, and CBS all own cable networks), 3) air the shows from 4-7 PM b/c that is when most people are home from work to watch the show. That is JMO.

Ripa and Consuelos were A-listers on AMC. Ripa is on an A-list program. Regis Philbin was never considered a successful comic in the 1960s. He has been a leading talk show host for 20 years.
Mark Consuelos. Dude has struggled.
