Life sometimes has a cruel way of emptying your calendar unexpectedly, so what's a girl to do when she's between jobs? Shop! The New York Times spent quality time with Guiding Light's Kim Zimmer as she looked for things to furnish an apartment in Los Angeles.
Zimmer is spending time commuting between coasts to audition for work. Her son Jake Weary (ex-Luke Snyder, As the World Turns) recently moved to L.A. to pursue his own career in acting and music, so they decided to share an apartment in Westwood.
Shopping for furnishings — first online and then in small gift-and-accessories shops in Upper Montclair — Ms. Zimmer set two goals: to “mother up” the place so it wouldn’t feel like a dormitory and to embellish it with affordable creature comforts for those stressful days, for both her and Jake, when auditions are deflating.
Decorating and auditioning aren't the only thing on Zimmer's agenda. After playing the fiery Reva Shayne for 26 years, you can bet there are stories to tell and Zimmer is planning a book about her life as a daytime soap legend.
When you’re with a character that long, sometimes it makes you wonder, Who am I? she said. The book will correlate Reva to Kim, hopefully with humor.

She certainly is giving it her all! It's not easy to fly back and forth not knowing where you may end up. With that persistance, its hard to imagine that someone won't notice.

Westwood eh? Maybe I will see her out and about in LA...Several years ago (circa 2001 or so) I saw Kim Zimmer with two younger folks out at a local bar..She seemed very fun...Earlier that same year I saw Cynthia Watros (annie dutton) buying a pie at LA's Farmers Market. Such fun !
