Film star James Franco talks with NY Mag about his upcoming stint on General Hospital and compares it working in movies.

But why a soap opera at all?

Well ... I've got other ideas for my participation in this soap opera beyond just being in this soap opera. But it's been a blast so far. It was kind of mind-blowing. I've worked one day on it. It's one day of a few. But I think we packed seven episodes of my material in. They gave me a script for the day that was as thick as a film script and that's what we planned to shoot in a single day. No ad-libbing. If I needed it, they said they had a TelePrompTer, but the regulars didn't use it so I didn't want to use it, either. Anyway, I'm pretty good at remembering lines.

If Franco is the character that actually gets my beloved JaSam into a marriage, whether for convenience or any other reason, I'll watch all his movies until the end of time!!! JaSam forever, baby!!!!

I love hearing about his experience on the set. He's so humble. I can't wait till he gets to our screens!

Wouldn't it be funny if they knew they only had him for a certain amount of time and they REALLY tried to get as much work out of him as possible. I'm picturing Steve and Maurice running around frantically from set to set. Lol

Yeah the script is thick and some actors just stare and blink their way through it ...Franco "acts"
'some' soap actors phone it in and have been for years
and some work their bums off and can barely get screen time...
