Martha Stewart On Rachael Ray

Martha Stewart let her feelings about Rachael Ray be known on Thursday's Nightline on ABC. Ray appeared on Stewart's show earlier this month. According to TVGuide.com, Stewart commented,

What Rachael Ray does is "not good enough for me." During the interview, Stewart also revealed that Ray confessed to her that she "cannot bake," adding that Ray "just did a new cookbook which is just a re-edit of a lot of her old recipes. ... I mean, I really want to write a book that is a unique and lasting thing."

Although a Rachael Ray Show rep would not comment, Ray countered with the following on ABC News,

Her skill set is far beyond mine. That's simply the reality of it. That doesn't mean that what I do isn't important, too ... I don't consider it needling. I really just think she's being honest, Ray says. She does have a better skill set than I do when it comes to producing a beautiful, perfect, high-quality meal. I'd rather eat Martha's than mine, too.

Classy response. (No, that wasn't sarcasm)

I'd say Rachel has much more class than Martha. Rachel has always been open about her strengths and weaknesses. She's always said she can't bake and isn't crafty. And her recipes and meals are easier for the every day person to prepare.

I will agree I love Martha but that was uncalled for.  I'm not a big Rachel fan but I do like her.   What I like is the fact that she doesn't measure anything because she aways says she don't know how.  she is the everyday I just got homw from work and trying to make a quick ass meal and get it over with.  She make bank because she knows how to do that and make it good as hell.

So yes she should bitch slap her for that.

Semi-Home Sandra is and everyday cook but her thing is doing on the affordable side and still make it look high class.  Sandra bake using store brought products read the instructions and add one or two things bam good to go!!!  A lot of the cooking show do that now because do have time to stop and do things from scratch anymore.

Okay can people please learn the English language.  Ugh, reading some of the spelling errors in these posts is funny.

Onto the reason behind the post.  Martha hasn't been popular since about a minute before it was revealed that she was a thief.  Since then she has never regained the amount of public worship she had earlier this decade.  Rachael Ray on the other hand is on fire and has been the whole decade.  I love her show and love the EVOO's everything she spits out one of those cute lines of hers.  Her food is rather interesting but it is stuff that you can picture your Mom making or yourself.  She has lasting power that Martha doesn't.  While her skill set may be lacking it doesn't mean jack.  We are all human and I am sure Saint Martha has a few issues of her own.  I mean she did go to jail after all!  Martha is just jealous and bitter that the spotlight isn't on her anymore.

I understand what Martha Stewart was saying because many chefs are angered by Rachael Ray's popularity since she's not a trained chef. You see that dismissive attitude on TOP CHEF when some of the contestants dismiss the home trained chefs.

It's unfortunate that we have yet another woman attacking another woman, but I was thrilled to see Ray's gracious response. She must be used to those comments as I know Anthony Bourdain has been highly critical and a lot more vicious than Stewart.

Apparently Martha is under the assumption that she is still the high preistess of home entertainment. I would rather, and frequently do watch Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa.  A lot more laid back and apparently does not feel that every upcoming or in Rachel's case established cooks owe her or anyone else homage for their place in the world.

Wow, talk  about an ego gone wild.  Classy response Rachel, you go girl.

I agree with most of the comments. I think that it is important to remember that Ray has never tried to claim that she's a chef or a baker. She's always been the first one to tell it like it is about herself and her background/training, etc.

She was really gracious in her response.

Plus, that is a most excellent picture of Rachael.

Martha is amazing and everything, but watching her show is like watching paint dry. I mean, she has the personality of a stick. If she wasn't Martha Stewart, there is no way in hell she would have a show.

On the other hand, Rachel Ray is rather vibrant, and fun to watch. And from her response to the jailbird, apparantly very classy. Rock on Rachel!

I just watched the actual Nightline Broadcast where Martha was asked about Rachael and based on the actual interview Martha pointed out that they are two entirely different type of people and that Ray is an entertainer while she is a Teacher.  Throughout the entire interview Martha cast herself as an instructor or teacher and not a entertainter like Rachael.

She also pointed out that it is not to much to expect perfection from a teacher and gave examples of no one wanting to take English or French lessons from an English or French teacher that had bad grammar and didn't know how to speak it properly. It is in that context she was discussing Rachael.

I'd had never thought of Martha as a "teacher", but if you look at her show and look at her style that is really what she is or is trying to be.

Could this be a case of the media trying to create a storm where there isn't one?

I want to see them together again. Have you watched the episode where Rachael Ray introduces the 400 Calorie fix? That was good. Unlike other weight loss program, you can still eat the foods that you want to eat.
