Michael Park Speaks Out On Austin Peck's Departure

Michael Fairman spoke to powerhouse Michael Park on the recent departure of co-star Austin Peck from As The World Turns.

MICHAEL: What can you tell us about the reports that Austin was indeed, “fired”?

MICHAEL PARK: Look, he did not get fired. We needed to facilitate Brad going away to facilitate story and unfortunately he was collateral damage. What a firestorm it started because the fans got very upset. But the story that happened because of that was so gorgeous that that death was so wonderful, and so many people benefited from it. Most of all, I believe the fans did. And it’s not over yet, because the Christmas Eve show will knock your socks off! The Christmas Eve show is one of our most beautiful shows of the year, I think.

i was just listening to one of the podcasts talking about how great/funny Henry and Ghost Brad were together.......you know what's better than Henry and Ghost Brad.......Henry and ALIVE BRAD!!!! Both of theses guys (plus Katie and Vienna) are great together and had the potential to be and stay a hilarious group of friends.  They were the kind of group that could get into all sorts of trouble where hilarity and hijinks would ensue.  I don't care how great Jack is on his journey, or how much we all cry when Katie cries.  Those are all short term stories.  Once there over with what are they (and we, the viewers) going to have left?

How many more people are we going to try to fix up with Katie?!? If Simon was too rougish (is there really such a thing Smile), and Mike was a bit too dependable, ie. boring, then Brad was "just right".  And as much as I would love to have Simon back full time, I don't see this version of Katie and Simon hitting it off.  The appeal of Simon/Katie was the spunk and the energy they had together.  They would fly across the world and get into danger and work together to get out of it.....they were FUN!!! Now that Katie has a baby, can anyone really see her letting loose like that again?  When I think of Katie's future, I see DOOL's Sami and OLTL's Starr.  Once they had babies, they "grew up".  I get that that is important for their character development but they never seem to cause any problems anymore.  Long of the short of it?  They're no fun!!  And really, what's the point of Katie, Sami, and Starr if they aren't creating some sort of mischief?

Uh, he wasn't FIRED, he was 'right-sized' or 'downsized' ??

Mr. Parks, he was FIRED....Probably not due to some negative reason, such as calling in sick too much or being late from break too often...........BUT he was fired......
