ATI Activates its 2010 Daytime Emmy Option

Jim Romanovich, ATI president of Worldwide Media and Entertainment, has revealed to We Love Soaps it has activated its option to produce the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in 2010.

And so…because of this renewed vigor and faith in the genre, we have activated our option to produce The 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in 2010.

But what does that mean? Well, not much. But it’s a start!

What it means is that after months of careful deliberation, we have committed ourselves on paper to produce next year’s event. This was all based on the caveat of two things:

1. That the daytime genre, especially the soaps, are collectively strong enough and want this to continue.

2. That we can top what we did this past August-including the venue.

The answers to both are yes. And no it’s not a moneymaker for us.

If it’s broadcasted again, it needs take place somewhere more appealing and not all dungeon-like! And it just can’t be on the CW channel, not everyone is able to receive that channel, and that was a big reason why the ratings were so dismal. Who fuh-reaking cares about the CW network! Every message board I went to, there were at least 10 people who were like, “CW what?”. Please, execs, work it out with ABC or CBS, maybe Fox? SOAPnet would be alright, but not everyone has digital cable, which you need for the SOAPnet channel. I enjoy watching the Daytime Emmys…hopefully, if broadcasted, they are better next year…
