Crouching Tiger, Oprah Interview?

Tiger Woods may be in the midst of a personal and public crisis, but the booking battle for the first sit down interview with the scandal plagued golf icon has already tee'd off. According to Popeater Oprah,  Matt Lauer, Barbara Walters and Larry King are all angling for the get, but only Oprah has applied the personal touch.

"Matt Lauer, Barbara Walters and Larry King's people have all called, but only lady O has personally reached out," the source said.

Why do they want to talk to him? There is so much more to learn from talking to Elin. Like, did you use a putter or driver? Was she going for distance or just to knock the ball in the cup?

Tiger still the man.  Please, media, Tiger isn't the only guy in the world that cheats on his wife.  He isn't the first and he aint going to be the last, so get over it.  He is still my role model and the golf haters can suck it.

I don't understand why these guys get married. Tiger is a smart-self-aware type person. He must have known that he likes the ladies (plural) So why get hitched? Why not stay a bachelor and enjoy your success and women? Have fun. Be like Derek Jeter. Live the life.

Why get married-have kids--and then cause all this hurt to the family? Very selfish IMO. Even if these two stay together--all this humilation he caused his wife is going to creep into the marriage. I don't care if she is the forgiving type or he lavishes her with jewels and lots of cash. It will be there--and have a negative effect on the kids. This wasn't a one time thing where you could maybe get passed it.

Crazy

Tiger is still the man. He just needs to be smarter next time. Get a seperate phone and don't say......"Hey, It's Tiger."

I agree, Crustee. Why even get married, if you still want to play the field?

There is so much more to learn from talking to Elin.

I respect Tiger's abilities and accomplishments but he's a jerk for cheating on his wife.

Because for many men... and women, too, love and sex are two different things. I'm sure he married Elin because he truly feels he loves her and wants a family with her but for all the control he has on the golf course not so much in his personal life.

Tiger is to blame for what he's going through right now.  Obviously, first of all, for cheating.  I have lost so much respect for him over this.

The other reason why Tiger has to shoulder the blame for the media frenzy going on right now is because--from the very start--he has tried to cover up his bad behavior.  We can argue about whether that's any of our business, sure, but the cold reality is that when you try to hide things, the media are like hounds in a feeding frenzy.

Compare Tiger to David Letterman.  Letterman "got out in front of" his bad behavior.  He was completely honest about what was going on, and he avoided a lot of what Tiger is going through now.

To make matters worse, Tiger then issued a statement scolding the media for being who they are.  That wiped away any goodwill that reporters might have had for him.  Suddenly, he has gone from being one of the most beloved public figures to the target of intense media scrutiny.  And it's all his fault.

Well, both was bad, but David situation was also liable for sexual harrasment even though that wasn't the case.  David was the boss and it was not a good position to have sexual relation with your employees.  My problem is that this is not a big deal and their are many more bigger issues to deal with like the economy and the war than Tiger's marriage problems.

And I feel that he is being cruficied for a personal thing and they at like he kill someone.  He made a mistake and no one perfect.

I agree with most of what you've written, simonstuart2003, but that still doesn't take away from the fact that the stupidest thing he did this week was think he could hide from the media.  The more he hid, the more intense the scrutiny became.  Whether it's right or wrong, he had to know that was going to happen.  If he had come clean this week, we would have moved on to more important issues in the news...like Meredith Baxter being a lesbian!  ;-)

siomonstuart, a mistake is not intentionally and repeatedly screwing a woman or women who are not your wife. And we already know that no one is perfect we don't need to continually hear it every time someone does something they shouldn't, like they're a victim of their own imperfection.

TVGord, why does he need to announce to the media his infidelity? He's embarrassed his wife and children enough. I'm sure any time taken to "admit" what he did was to make sure his wife was okay with it and not "practice" on him again. And how is Meredith Baxter being gay MORE important news. I don't need to know who Tiger Woods is sleeping with any more than I need to know who Meredith is sleeping with.

The Meredith Baxter line was a joke.  I didn't think that needed to be pointed out.  (I did follow it up with winkyface, though.)

I'm not saying he needed to announce his infidelity to the media.  I am simply pointing out that--in this media climate--these are the consequences of not doing so.

Did anyone think Tiger issuing a statement saying, "Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.", was going to inspire the media to restrain themselves?  How naïve is that?
