B&B Catch Up: Togas, Internet Dating And A Surrogate With Issues

Was this Sarah Brown's face when she caught up with old B&B episodes and realized she'd signed a two-year contract? In case you too need a catch up, here's what's been going down in LA.

Desperate to get her freak on, now that the oh-so-irresistible Ridge is married, Taylor turned to internet dating. With a little encouragement from her daughter, Taylor hooked up with a “90 percent match” at LA’s only coffee joint, Insomnia. Alas, it was none other than Carl Ferret, the lab technician who discovered Brooke’s eggs had mistakenly been implanted in Taylor. Oh dear. She walked out on the Ferret and went home to lick her wounds, aided by Thomas and Steffy, her supportive/annoying kids.

Somehow, Taylor resisted a Ferreting from Carl

Steffy’s been attempting to get  freaky herself, with Bill Spencer no less, by launching herself at him and slipping him the tongue. After they met to “talk about it” at the Big Bear cabin, Steffy tried to hump him again, resulting in Bill’s sword necklace falling down the sofa.

Stephanie discovered Bill’s jewelry when it pierced her mean, old ass. Mistakenly, she thought it was Rick’s and subsequently gave it to Brooke to return, stipulating that Rick should ask before going up to Big Bear for a fumble. Brooke figured something was amiss, as Rick prefers an open shirt without a fancy necklace. Rick confirmed her suspicions. The necklace led her to confront Bill, who was forced to come clean about being at Big Bear with Steffy. Question is— did they actually get up to anything more up at the cabin? I’m thinking there could be a new flashback thrown in at some point, to reveal that the really did get jiggy with it.

Newly-married Bill and Katie are otherwise running Forrester Creations well, it would seem, with Ridge, Steffy and Katie finally seeing eye-to-eye to create and launch the Glamour collection. Steffy thought it was the work of Ridge’s career. No comment:

I bet you'd like me to tie you up with this wouldn't you, sweet stuff?
If I didn't have my Logan, I just might! Grrrrrrr.

Over at Jackie M, the fashion shoot for their Adam and Eve campaign was ludicrously camp. Owen in a fig leaf (presumably not available from retail outlets) and Jackie in what looked like a toga:

Buy one now in time for Christmas.

Bridget and Nick are pinning their hopes for a baby on the mysterious Sandy Sommers. Sandy’s secrets are being slowly revealed. She’s Whip’s cousin, but apparently skipped LA years ago, only to return with a new name and a determination to be a surrogate. Lying about being a yoga fanatic and a health food nut, she won Bridget and Nick’s hearts, and was promptly impregnated. Things are starting to unravel, though, as she suffered a panic attack after being questioned by Whip, and now Nick is sniffing around for answers:

"Cookies, chips, candy bars!" announced Nick, as though he'd just unmasked
a serial killer. What kind of a monster is this chick?

He’s found out about her name change and figured that she has a problem being around men, as she almost had a meltdown when he touched her. It looks like something has happened in Sandy’s past that is driving her need to have a child and is also the reason she’s so afraid of men. Perhaps she was attacked and lost her child? Whatever happened, Sandy is so far a great addition to B&B and Brown is doing an awesome job as the vulnerable, secretive surrogate. Drippy Nick and Bridget are getting the shot in the arm they need to keep their marriage watchable.

The less said about Pam and Donna, the better. After the recent (much too short, but good quality) storyline featuring Ann coming back to LA to die, it’s unfortunate that Alley Mills is again reduced to putting on the cat ears and indulging in more tomfoolery with Donna. I like the set for The Catwalk, so there, I said something positive. I’ll leave it at that.

It's comedy, Pam, but not as we know it.

Tune in next week to find out if Bridget has designed anything other than a freakin’ toga for Jackie M’s new line.

Thanks Darren for this.

I'm trying to do a daily discussion in the forums but there aren't that many B&B posters yet.  Hopefully we can get some more here on DC.

Smitty, I think B&B gets the least online love for some reason... I've just been posting in the forum and will continue to do so  However, I am furious that you voted off my Brooke Logan in the Elimination Game... I will not forget that! Wink

Sarah Brown on B&B for two years Yippee!!! How about getting her character full of issues hooked up with the very available Thorne it would make his character more interesting and get him away from Mommy and Daddy issues. Winsor is too good to be sitting on the sidelines get this guy on on the field for some play!!!

LOL, Season  Smitty, she was just following her heart

BasilnSybil (nice name, BTW!) she's signed for two years, but who knows. I think things look good so far, and I agree about Thorne, but I am interested to see what happens with Nick/Bridget first...

B&B has gotten good in the past few months.

i lol'd when the necklace pierced Big Steph's ass!

Sarah Brown looks like she's getting at least an EMMY nod. Sandy/Agnes was sketchy as first but now that we're starting to learn the of apparent abuse by men, it should get good.

Taylor & Whip? i dunno, sounds like Taylor getting another one of Brooke's leftovers.

MORE comedy with Donna & Pam please! they're hilarious when they're together. Soap Opera Digest agrees with me that they're 2009's Best Frenemies.

LESS Ridge would be awesome.

Smitty, your comment managed to smoke out this BB on/off fan from the sidelines

It's been hard to keep up with the show since they blocked youtube posters (copyright & all that). And for the few months I lived in the U.S. I couldn't catch up on my beloved Soapnet (WHY???) Athough Scott .N. has been BRILLIANT for years with his updates, reading is still not the same as watching the barf-inducing Valley girls either cooing over their honey-bear or prancing in Brooke's Bedroom Line for the "hot stuff" Ridge. Or better still, Steffy thinking she could snag $Bill (WTH)

Yes, please steer Sandy into Thorne's direction. The dude hasn't really done much else since the Taylor pairing after Darla's death. Besides, boring Nick/Bridget will just drown the character. Nick was still at his very best during his early days with Taylor.

I heard Taylor & Whip might be hanging out together.........I guess HT is the only viable actress left to pair RH up against. At least he's not being wasted on Steffy.

Ok, I'm sure you folks sussed that I'm a Hunter Tylo fan

Why not hook up Taylor and Brooke?  They would hot in the cabin s/l and have way more chemistry than ToolRidge.

OK, here's some food for thought on Darren's latest missive - although like him, I must say that I, too, was dismayed by Smitty's Survivor style strategy to vote Brooke off the island from the get go. I guess that shows how big a threat she really is. Can we get a viewer's choice award for her at least? :-)

As for Carl being Taylor's mystery date, I'm afraid TPTB telegraphed that one, since so many people, me included, saw it coming a mile away from the obvious clues they dropped. Some people are hoping there is a purpose to this - i.e. a lot of Taylor fans were hoping Carl would provide Taylor with proof that the egg mix-up was no mix-up - but personally, I think Carl's appearance was nothing more than comic relief to get the idea of Taylor's online foray going before moving on.

As for Sandy, my suspicion from the fear in her eyes every time Nick even comes close to touching her is that she was raped. I know some have speculated that she might be a lesbian, but a woman who just doesn't sleep with men wouldn't be as horrified as Sandy is IMO. It might be tied to some kind of modeling, maybe porn, from her reaction to the flashbulbs and cameras. Maybe Spencer Publications still owns porn mags on the sly and Sandy was raped by an overzealous photographer? That might be an interesting conundrum for Bill if it turned out that way. Also, if it's rape, I wonder if they might somehow tie it to the too-quickly-dropped rape of Brooke from a couple of years ago. Just some guesses on my part, although I'm sure TPTB and Sarah know where this is headed.

Overall, I like the whole Forrester takeover story since it shakes up the dynamic of the show. At the same time, though, I think it's moving way too quick. Just a month ago, they were talking about how a lot of the employees were nervous about Bill coming in, and one miracle campaign later, everyone is happy and Katie the PR girl knows how to run the company better than Ridge or Eric or Brooke ever did. I know Brad Bell likes to move fast, but this one was too fast IMO.

As for Pam and Donna, I have to agree with The Mustache that I welcome their comedic turns. Yes, the Catdance is cringeworthy, but if it serves as a mechanism to get Donna and Pam interacting in hijinx given that they are now in opposing camps, I can deal with it.

I think I'm surprised how many people like the Pam/Donna tomfoolery!  It's really not my cup of tea at all. I like Alley Mills, but I think she gets the short straw with her material. Anyway, I'm glad many find it funny!

Scott, the FC story has been going incredibly fast... wham bam - you're the new CEO, I own FC, that's the new Head of PR... it's nuts.

I like the idea of yours regarding Sandy... I am definitely most interested in where her story is heading. She's a great addition.

I saw the Carl "date" coming too, and I very much doubt they'll be revisting the Taylor IVF debacle anytime soon.

Ditto Big D...It just doesn't work for me, but if it does for others, so be it. I think it's time better spent stoking up some drama fire on other storylines.

I'm not a fan of the Pam/Donna catwalk stuff.  I love Alley Mills but it is beyond ridiculous!  It is very annoying.  i hate when they do it.

I loved Alley Mills when they were doing the stuff with Ann/Stephanie/Pam.  Those where some great work by all three of those actresses.  That's why I wish they would put her in some more serious stuff.  Too much camp/comedic stuff.  It's annoying.

The problem with the Catwalk stuff is that the dance was funny once and has run its course. But the idea of having Pam and Donna co-hosting the show, especially with the current dynamic of the show's producer owning Forrester and Pam working for the competition, has some mileage IMO.

B&B was always known for humor with Sally and the Spectra gang, but Darlene Conley's gone and can't be replaced. So they need some other outlet for humor, because the fans who loved that stuff don't want grim and serious all the time. And Alley loves the comedy and working with Jennifer Gareis. She thinks it balances out the more serious stories. A lot of fans want it, too. So Brad and company are playing to that, while also giving her serious stuff at other times on top of that.
