Performer of the week, Steve Burton.  My husband was even riveted to the screen during the Mikey smack down.  When Jason yelled shut up, every one in my house sat down, and listened to what the hell he had to say. LOL

HM>>>>>> Natalia Livingston had me rolling when she went to see Liz. And Drew Garrett is playing the role of the spoiled little mob prince to a T.

DM>>>>>>>> Hey, Tyler Christopher, I don't know if any one has told you this, but on a soap opera, your primary job is to, well, um,  ACT.

Becky Herbst has been carrying all of the Niz scenes by herself, and it is killing the story.

I agree w/ you. While I loathed this storyline Rebecca has been giving it 100%, Tyler on the other hand has been phoning it in. I have a feeling that Rebecca & Jonathon will carry the scenes whenever the truth comes out.

Well my performer of the week is Alicia Minshew, Kendall on All My Children. AMC overlooked as always.....her scenes this past week with Erica were really great. She brought great emotion, I applaud her.

HM's-Steve Burton and James Franco. Loved their scenes together on Friday's episode, that got me into this storyline finally. Looking forward to them more.

Performer of the Week: Steve Burton : He has been racking up reels for emmy submission  left and right of late but him taking Michael to task was incredbible stuff.

Honorable Mentions: Natalia Livingston: For pretty much the same thing Jason did with Michael. I was beyond thrilled to see one person (including Liz herself) not treating Liz like the innocent victim in all this mess.

Amanda Seton: Kim on OLTL  is awesome loved all her scenes this week but I laughed until I cried when Stacy suggested that they blow the whistle on Nora/Bo by way of annoymous letter and Kim replied "Too much Spelling"

Dishonorable Mention:  Oh my Darling Clementine....WTH are you doing girl ??? Did you hear them say action ???

Luke thank you so much for "the Womb-bat" believe when I tell you that  calling her that whevever her she is onscreen will be the most entertaining part  of seeing her.

Performer of the week was Steve Burton for his scenes with Drew Garrett and James Franco, but especially for those scenes when Jason gave "THE" verbal smackdown to one Michael Corinthos that was so richly deserved.  Burton was simply on fire and a pure joy to watch.

KUDOS to Steve Burton for a remarkable performance week!

Note to the DC Crew:
Okay, I just have to say that I am dying laughing over here because four actresses who have received numerous Dishonorable Mentions and have been much-lamented on this podcast for years are now getting POWs and Honorable Mentions! I guess it just goes to show you how much actors and actresses can change and grow dependent on the material. Anyway, it is cracking me up that Melissa Claire Egan, Vail Bloom, Marie Wilson, and Natalia Livingston have each gotten kudos when they were all close to getting check boxes in the Dishonorable Mention category not that long ago!!!!
It makes me wonder if next year Clementine and Amelia will be turning in fantastic performances and getting props as well (LOL). I seriously doubt that will ever happen, but hey, if these four ladies have turned it around and earned some love I guess anything is possible!

Well, LawyerGirl, that's not 100% accurate.

Now I don't watch Y&R regularly enough to comment, but speaking for myself as a member of our illustrious crew, I've been championing Melissa Claire Egan for months — in fact, as far back when Annie first started going cuckoo for cocoa puffs when Ms. Egan was finally given meaty material to play.

Same for Marie Wison; it was a long time before I jumped on the "Vortex of Suck" bandwagon, which only happened close to the time when the VoS was broken up after the 251st go Meg/Paul tilt-a-whirl.

While I never said much about Natalia Livingston as Rebecca, the few times I've had the opportunity has been in criticism of the zig-zaggy unfocused direction of Rebecca (tough girl-turned-con artist-turned-Emily clone).

What all three of these actresses  (and I suspect Bloom) is not that they were bad actresses (Bloom has been getting praise for weeks, if not months) per se, but rather victims of  poor writing and lack of strong characterization (see my comments about the young lady who plays Marissa on AMC). Once the writing and the characterization improved, the actresses  — as well as the audience — had a firmer grasp on who these characters were or had the potential to become.

The point here is that we all haven't been in lock-step in our criticisms of these actresses, although some indeed do deserve that check box.

 J. Bernard,
I appreciate your post and I completely understand where you are coming from. You are totally right that when given great material people can shine. I wasn't meaning to make a generalization about any of you and your past opinions because I love you all. Wink Also, I realize that great performances can change a person's mind about an actress or a character. I was just making an observation based on the fact that I am a long-time listener of the podcast.
What I love so much about the podcast is that everyone has very different opinions and everyone enjoys different characters/actors at different times. I was directing this a little more toward Luke who past dislike for the characters of Annie and Meg is well-documented, lol. As for Vail, during much of last year the DC crew was calling for her to be fired or recast, and everyone (including myself) has been hating the whole Rebecca storyline up until lately because of how it was written and how awkward it was for Natalia to play. More than anything, I'm very entertained by the fact that these ladies have been able to completely turn things around when I doubted they would ever be able to. I love it when people surprise me. I could have included Tammin Sursok on my list too but I didn't because sadly she's gone now. :(

RE: Amanda Seton

I agree with you about the "Too much spelling" scene.  I was on the floor in tears.  She is amazing on this show.

I'm not sure if this has been suggested, but I hope that it turns out that Kim is the baby sister of Ross and Eli.  That way, she can stay on the show when we can get rid of Stacy.

LW who didn't say a word but her looks say it all she was amazing
NL as Rebecca - I loved how she played the bad girl that was so different from angle Emily she was on fire .... and it also made me mad that Rebecca is so strong now when she is going to leave like with Claudia why? why couldn't they write that before they decide to write like that before ?????????

Hear, hear, J Bernard, and thank you!  I always feel like I'm swimming upstream online being a Natalia Livingston fan.  She's constantly derided for her acting (and yes, sometimes it is warranted.  I'm not completely blind), but she's been made to flounder for almost a year due to indifferent writing and completely unfocused characterization.  What actress wouldn't fail with that utter lack of support from the show she's on?  But Natalia's now getting the last laugh, and I couldn't be happier.  This is the first week in a long time that I've actually looked forward to seeing GH just to see what they'd give her to do.  Congratulations to Natalia, and I hope the great work you did this past week leads you to bigger and better things.

MY DM has to be Nathan Parsons as Ethan.

First of all the accent is weird, it comes and goes throughout the scenes, and it seems especially fake with Jax on the same show.

Second, when he flew accross the bar to attack Nicholas he looked like a fool.

Lastly, with the return of Jonathan as Lucky,  can someone please remind me why we need this character?

MY POW would be Heather Tom, I love what she is doing to evolve the character of Brooke's little sister on B&B.

My performer of the week was Alicia Minshew as Kendall on AMC. The girl totally deserves it for the crap Pratt has her say and do alone, lol. But her scenes with Erica were great.

Since I only watch GH I will do HM and DM's

HM; Steve Burton for putting the smackdown on Michael among other things
Natalia Livingston bringing the bitchy and confronting Liz and telling her kids fairytales,LOL.
James Franco for bringing the crazy.  It might have been campy but you sure couldn't take your eyes off the screen, he went from giddy and deranged to cold and calculated in a nano second.

DM.  Tyler Christopher,  why does he look so darn bored all the time?  It's like he is sleepwalking or something.

PoW: Marie Wilson!!!!!

The woman is amazing!

Why? Marie is just rocking the hell out of her woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown performance.

Pow 2: Paolo S.,

Why? Paolo is just delivering a stunning performance of a man who will do anything to get and keep the love of the woman of his dreams.

HM: Amanda Sutton
Why? Amanda Sutton is just hilarious! Damn! The scene where she said that Clint would get down on his knees to thank Nevil and that she (her Kim) would, too, was a scream!!

HM 2: Terri Colombino
Why? Just a heart breaking performance.

HM 3: Austin Peck
Why? A great mix of drama and comedy

HM 4: Steve Burton
Why? Never has the phrase "little bitch" been uttered at a male character on daytime and done with such pain, anger, and heart break.

Best Writers of the Week:
OLTL & ATWT

Dishonorable Mention & Scrooge Award 2009 Nominee:
Les Moonves for being an insensitive, sociopathic CEO who laughed at the thought of 200 people being fired in the middle of the worst economic conditions in 80 years.

I'm gonna give it to the actor who plays Michael on GH. Michael is really embracing his Quartermaine roots by being a spoiled/entitled/brat that every Q before him was and still is.
