Nelson's observations and conclusions were perfectly accurate.

I would have to add "Best storyline twist"=Dominic turns out to be a undercover cop AND is really Olivia's son Dante AND Sonny is his father!

Cane Ashby's one of the most boring characters on Y&R. If he's the most improved, that doesn't speak well about the state of the show.

The "cowardly" awards, whether I agree or disagree with them, add a considerable bite to the article.  WOW.

Branco has to have a CRUSH on Goddard to think that about Cane. I get the same impression when Michael Logan goes on and on and ON about Eric Braeden. He has his head very far up the old man's wrinkly ass.

I agree with Drew Garrett as best younger actor. His scenes lately have been pretty good.

While Luke and Noah didn't set the world on fire in 2009, and I blame a lot of that on very bad writing for the couple than the actors, I disagree with them being the most boring couple considering the likes of Casey/Alison on ATWT stinking up the joint for most of 2009 with their total non-chemistry and awesomely mindnumbingly dull "love story".

Casey/Alison make me long for Paul/Meg. THAT's how awful it is to watch them in their "love story".

Regarding Y&R's Cane, I was talking about his backstory (not being Phillip) and becoming darker as a character. As for Boring Couple, yep — I'm talking about the writing NOT the acting.

Even with it being about the writing, I still don't get how Luke/Noah "won" over Casey/Alison. Neither had great writing, but L/N could be watchable at times though not necessarily enjoyable. Casey/Alison is neither watchable or enjoyble EVER.  I know it's different strokes but Luke/Noah and Mac/Billy were like watching Kyle/Oliver in comparison to Casey/Alison. And TPTB seem resistant to putting those Casey & Alison with anyone else and would rather ruin both characters by keeping them together. Just dumb and relentlessly boring.

While I agree with Noah's adoption as a incredibly stupid & pointless storyline twist, worst to me was that Hardy Boys mystery trying to solve Reg's death back in Feb & March. Just awful, awful nonsensical writing.

Nelson, do you think Cane's edge after the "he's not Phillip" reveal has regressed over time? I'm thinking of the current Cane/Lily/Mac lovefest around the surrogacy and the baby. While he's not Capt Perfect like he used to be (and I blamed the writing and not Goddard for that), Cane's been a lot cheeier since this surrogacy started and it's like the edge is duller now.

I take it that's in reference to Luke and Noah and not the other winner for that category? Because Billy and Mac are boring both in the writing and in the chemistry between Billy Miller and Clementine Ford.

Hmmmm you think Nelson doesn't like Crystal Hunt? Haha I mean granted I started tuning into Oltl in May after the main part of the Morasco fiasco, so I don't really mind her. This is coming from a 9 year Amc viewer so i guess after some of the Sh*t writing on there the last year, she should get an emmy for her work on Oltl in comparison lol

I can't take Casey and Alison as a couple seriously! How many times have they attempted to be a couple? Poor Billy M! Now Emily and Casey was a different story...

Daniel's a friend, so I don't have a crush on him. The only person I have a crush on is Crystal Chappell — oh, and Ellen Wheeler! LOL!

Love how much Nelson hates Crystal Hunt/Stacy Morasco!!  I totally agree and cannot wait until she is gone from OLTL.

But on another OLTL tangent...how does Scott Evans not have a contract with the show?? What the heck are they thinking?!!

Nelson, you crazy and on point with the list.  OLTL is best show, Days is most improve and Y&R is most disappointing.  I hope that next year the soaps will get better, but I doubt it.  Crystal Chappell is the breakout star of 09 and next year.

Venice as best web soap? Really?

Nothing against Martha Byrne, but how are the extremely flawed Gotham and some test scripts at B&B a reason to name her most promising writer?

Billy Miller and Stacy Haiduk both sank under the weight of horrible writing by midyear. If I was giving them any award it would be a "Good sport" award. Stacy Haiduk in best female dual role? Is that just because she was the only female dual role?

Actors on Y&R alone who were worse than Thom Bierdz this year:

Josh Morrow
Greg Rikaart
Michael G
Michael Muhney
Chris Engen

Bierdz is not a good actor but he's not the worst and he's not to blame for how pointless Phillip's return was.

I definately would have tied Trent Dawson w/ Tuc Watkins for scene stealer.  I don't watch Days of our Lives--but James Scott must have improved quite a bit since his AMC days.

Glad some recognition for MCE--I even liked her when she was boring Annie.

All the B&B picks were spot on. I would have also liked to have seen B&B singled out for worst costume design.

After just watching the last two episodes of OLTL it is obvious why Nelson gave it so much love.  Could this show be any better?

As for David Fumero being the most improved, I could not agree more.  He needs to be on more, ditto Tika.

I am sorry to see Crystal go, I am starting to like all her scheming (especially with the addition of Kim).

WORST SOAP OPENING: General Hospital
Thank goodness because I would hate if someone who has seizures watches that opening.

The rest of the list was whether accurate!

I can't agree more. I love seeing David Fumero as Most Improved but I thought Tika really shined this year. She's been awesome in the Fish coming out story and in this long journey they embarked on with Cristian and Layla finding their way to each other.
