Dear John's Seyfried on ATWT Stint: "I Was So Bad They Had to Ship My Character Off"

In a joint interview for Backstage with her Dear John costar Channing Tatum, the subject of Amanda Seyfried's short-lived stint as Lucy on As The World Turns came up.

Seyfried: I'll be honest, I was pretty bad starting out. When I was 15, I was on "As the World Turns," and I was so bad they had to ship my character off.

Back Stage: Are you sure it was because of you—it wasn't a story-line decision?

Seyfried: It was absolutely, without a doubt, because I was that bad. I was so uncomfortable. I had it in me, but if you aren't comfortable, you can't access your skill.

Now that's what I call self awareness!

Didn't know she was on World Turns. It's always ppl saying that she was bad on AMC. Well it's great that she's found great sucess after Daytime.

I think she got a lot of her training on AMC. I was highly critical of her when she started on the show, but I was sorry to see her fade into the scenery when her character was eventually forgotten. So many missed opportunities on this show, and that whole period of Joni and Reggie and the rest of the teen scene at that time was certainly one of them.

Amanda rocks. I love that she is so self aware and has apparently used the experience to get better because she is a fine actress now and is doing quite well I might add.

I can respect her for not blaming others for the times when she was awful. Her career now is great. My favorite film of hers will probably forever be Mean Girls though. She cracked me up so much.
