It looks like we're one step closer to finding out whether or not the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be seen on television. Associated Television International's James Romanovich revealed to On Air On Soap's Michael Fairman he has an offer to televise the telecast nationally!
It looks like we're one step closer to finding out whether or not the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be seen on television. Associated Television International's James Romanovich revealed to On Air On Soap's Michael Fairman he has an offer to televise the telecast nationally!
As of today, I can tell you that if we go forward, I have a television offer for the event in prime time nationwide, PLUS a second run option on a sister broadcaster should we opt for this. We are still awaiting NATAS’ final decision about the venue and the concept. Oh, yes. There IS a concept that will be a first for the Daytime Emmys. If they agree, we’re in business. If they don’t agree, then they have a place selected that will most likely be for a non-televised event. It will then be our choice as to whether we want to produce it for television or not because ultimately when people see the show, they’re going to judge the production which will have our stamp all over it.

In a perfect world I think the show should air on NBC on a Sunday since the Primetime Emmys are airing in Aug on NBC. Like last yr. which I think was no coincidence CW aired the show when the Primetime Emmys aired on CBS which is the big sister channel. And if Days is going to continue their track record of scoring noms get NBC to air the show and have Alison Sweeney host.

I just hope the give a better tribute to ATWT than they did GL. I DVR award shows and zoom threw it in 15 min.. I think they should combine the two. God forbid that would make it longer, maybe cut out some of the ridicules awards on both.

99% of the daytime soaps are done in LA now....they would get better attendance if it stays in LA at this point.

That's nice. I hope they find a way not to cut off the award recipients like last year!
They should have a tribute to ATWT and of course tributes to soap actors we've lost in the last year. First James Mitchell and then Frances Reid. They are both big parts of the daytime community and NEED to be acknowledged.
