HomeTVABCUgly Betty Says Goodbye Tonight Luke Kerr April 14, 2010 ABC, Comedy, Drama, Ugly Betty 13 Comments Tonight we say goodbye to ABC’s soaptastic Ugly Betty. During its four seasons the over-the-top dramady made America Ferrera a star and won her an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a SAG Award, breathed new life into the careers of Vanessa Williams, Judith Light and Tony Plana and introduced us to Michael Uri, Mark Indelicato and Becki Newton. It also treated fans to a lot of laughs, shocking plot twists and more than a few catfights, all centered in the sensationalized world of MODE magazine. As Ugly Betty takes its final bow it’s important to remember its most important theme, it’s what’s inside each of us that matters most. Log in to Reply GossipGirl April 14, 2010 Ugly Betty was one of the most beautiful, provoking, delightful dramedies to hit network television in the past decade. For all its outlandish plots and terrific one-liners, I’ll miss the way all the characters (except of course for Wilhemina) eventually grew to care deeply for each other. I especially loved the Marc and Amanda friendship. Log in to Reply alstonboy4315 April 14, 2010 It’s sad whenever a well-written show with great actors goes off the air!!! Network television is truly dying, and reality television is killing it softly and slowly!!! Log in to Reply TmontyB April 14, 2010 I love this show and I’ve seen every single episode. I’m very sad to see it leaving the air. I noticed someone blamed ABC. I don’t see how it’s their fault. The show is very low rated, which is unfortunate. What are they supposed to do? Log in to Reply DaytimeFan0001 April 14, 2010 I love this show, never missed an episode too. I like the write up Luke did on it. It is truly a great show overall. I never was crazy about the pairings with Betty, but the characters, storyline twists, cinematography and meaning was always beautiful. I agree Friday was an awful night and moving it to Wednesdays at 10 was not a good move either, but let face it, if people were really into the show as much as we or ABC would have liked them to be, they would have followed it whatever timeslot. Log in to Reply RCLGuard April 14, 2010 I can’t count how many times I said "I love this show" after an episode ended. This cancellation hurt me. Log in to Reply soapfan8 April 15, 2010 im so depressed one of my favorite shows i will miss willhemina slater alexis carrington colby reincarnated i agree these networks only want money not creative art if they did they would have kept it at thursday friday was horrible the demographic of ugly betty is out or usy on a friday night and by putting it at wednesday it was too late everyone one already tuned out Log in to Reply ATLn30318 April 15, 2010 I don’t see how it’s their fault. Wow – Someone here that understands how ratings work: continued low ratings or a gradual decline in ratings = cancellation. I will miss UB. The last several episodes have really been very good. Log in to Reply KeriChandler26 April 15, 2010 I haven’t seen the finale yet but I know that I’m going to cry. I’ve loved UB since the beginning and I’m so sad to see it go. I actually think that the writers are more to blame than ABC. They didn’t give the fans what they wanted (arguably the Betty and Daniel pairing) and instead wrote storylines that drove the audience away. Log in to Reply AWfanforever April 16, 2010 I love Ugly Betty. At first I was so pissed that Daniel and Betty didn’t kiss or admit to feelings at the end, but now I’m looking at the other side which is that we the viewers can make up our own minds about what happens next. I personally think that Daniel and Betty ended up together. I’m sticking with that until a movie comes out telling me differently. This wonderful show shouldn’t have been cancelled this soon but I look forward to watching these talented actors in other roles. Log in to Reply Dariclone April 17, 2010 In an efforrt to avoid spoilers I’ll just say I loved it. I could’ve done with some more Willie and Justin though, but I realize they only had an hour and they couldn’t do everything. I also thought the ending was unsatisfying at first, but the more I thought about the more it seemed appropreiate to the characters.
