Procter and Gamble is finally helping to fund an established daytime television brand's move to cable. Wall Street Journal is reporting P&G has signed a $100 million dollar, multiyear advertising deal with Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

"This is a terrific partnership, bringing together two powerful brands with a common goal to serve the viewer with meaningful experiences," said Kathleen Kayse, executive VP, advertising sales, OWN.

I wish that ATWT would move to OWN, and while you're at it, bring back GL as well.....
I have said since day one that Lady O is one of the few businesspeople in Hollywood who has a heart AND a brain!!! Actually, I am not getting excited until I hear them say "ATWT has been given a 10th hour reprieve"..................Maybe I am getting ahead of myself with wishful thinking and all that jazz, but I don't want to see ATWT fade to black!!!!
Soap_Stud---I agree, if Debbi Morgan decided to jump ship from Pine Valley, I'd follow her anywhere!! Of course, that would mean that Darnell Williams would have to come along for the ride!! Can't have Angie without Jesse (and vice versa!!!)
If they do create a new soap, I really hope that it at least includes ONE black person. Maybe, dare I say it, a whole FAMILY? One that gets regular airtime????Wishful thinking, right?? We (black folks) seem to only come out of the woodworks during Thanksgiving dinners and family tragedies nowadays!!!!! I am getting riled up again!! I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best!!!

I called P&G and Telenext, said they are still looking for a home, told them about this article and that a P&G exec said that they've run their course, find it hard to believe, she still said they are truly trying to find a home, I said that OWN would be a good fit, I also said bring back Guiding Light. I know that it's a pipe dream. But made me feel better to talk to some one. These are historic shows.

The article states very clearly that this is an advertising deal, not a development deal. This just means that P&G is gonna buy $100 million worth of commercial ad time on the OWN channel over several years. There's no indication that P&G is gonna produce any shows for the network.
